K&N or stock air filter?

Just replaced my stock air filter with a drop in K&N. Thought it was a good idea until told that driving in the rain with the K&N is not a good idea. Any thoughts on this?

I always thought there was a trade off with these after market filters...sure they increase air flow with a little boost in power but the trade off is that they might let in more dirt than a factory filter. Thoughts?

Honestly I can not recall. I did however call manufacturer and they denied it.

I never liked K&N Filters, because they oily--- I went with BMC - it's dry. Had on the car for over 4 years. no issues.
