After seeing my friend tuning these Evo's I gain immediate respect.... sure I get looked form high school kids and the cops as well... but its a lot of fun... and I'm sure the nissan will be too. Its just a different feeling when your in either one... you sense it even from others around you.,... no biggie... I had my share of experiences with Ferraris, Lambos, etc... I'm over that....

actually I was going to say that too... when he got taken on that right turn the Turbo driver got into it too deep and had to overcompensate... thus the Nissan took it...

I drive my GT3 on the track and think it doesn't get better than that. Then I get into my Evo and realize its isn't better, but it ticks a whole different set of boxes (WRC special stage fantasies, just throw it into the turns and goose-it kinda thrill, etc.). And then its into the old '86 M3 and am reminded that no matter how nice and fast the new cars are, I never tire of just what a complete package the original M3 is, yada yada yada...
A few weeks ago, I got into my buddy's 2000 lb early 90's Honda Civic with a "measly" 220HP 1.6 liter engine and no power steering and was simply and utterly blown away by how much fun it is to drive (on a racetrack). Sure its slower than the Porsche or the Evo, and it's a pain to drive on the street... but the light weight + front wheel drive dynamics (again, not better, just different in a nice way) + 9000RPM redline made for an utterly exhilarating experience. I'm going to build one of my own now, and it will probably show up in my sig before too long.
If I had to keep one car, of course it would be the Porsche, hands down without thinking.
But as Markski said, its just a different feeling...
When a production GT-R is tested side by side with a production 911TT by the same driver on the same track on the same day by an unbiased reviewer, we'll have something to talk about. The video looked like a commercial (seriously... people standing around in Nissan jackets??).

Okay boys and girls this is going to be a long one..so bear with me..
First off i own both.. I own a GTR and own a Turbo.. I LOVE THEM BOTH.. in LA i am noted for having more GT-Rs and know more about the GT-R and Turbo more than anyone else (unless like shaun from RB or one of the guys from Speed Gallery say Allen). But i have a great deal of knowledge on these cars..
Simply but the Porsche OUT CLASSES the Nissan in the American Market.. Primarily, because first, Porsche has a racing history that predates nissan. Secondly, when a sunday morning like today comes around and its great out side I am taking the Turbo.. The GTR is on a whole other level. The GTR out PERFORMS the Turbo...
But for stuff that people dont know.. The R32,33,and 34 are based of the 959. Words from Nissan Japan themselves..the tranny was stolen technology from Porsche. The new GTR gets a good deal of its technology this time from Bugatti.. To my knowledge Bugatti owned by VW who is owned by PORSCHE.. so go figure.
As far as how long they last.. OMG WHAT AN IDOT.. My skylines every 3k miles NEEDS an oil change, for both diffs, the engine and the tranny.. cost on that (diff oil 80 bucks. Tran oil 40 bucks. Oil filter 15 bucks. OIL FOR CAR 40 bucks. figure 180 to be safe).. My porsche is like every 15k miles.. Also how many GT-Rs you own with 100k+.. I bet not a one..
Because JUST LIKE A PORSCHE.. at x amount of miles it needs to be rebuilt.. its a performance car.. all performace cars need to be rebuilt if you want to keep it running right..
The fact that nissan tests the porsche is primarily its the closes thing to it.. What other 4wd car for over 50k can they test it with.. a gallardo... that would be a joke.. As much as i love to say the gallardo is a great car.. its not a porsche nor has the hisotry... So test it against a car with some notority..
I have personally driven the new GT-R..and to be honest its a HEAVY CAR..like a newer GTO.. and i driven the new Turbo.. and like i said if i want to have a great fun drive.. TURBO.. if i want to smash the crap out of people GTR...
oh and just to let u all know top gear gave it the super car of the year...
