Ashtray is rattling and I'm about ready to throw it out the window!

If it wasn't a CF ashtray, I probably would do it too! Anybody have a fix for this or know of a fix for it? The stupid little thing for putting out a cigarette is rattling and driving me nuts. The worst part is that I don't smoke and don't need the damn thing but what do you do with the space on a CF tunnel?

Try getting a piece of fabric and putting it in there somewhere. Maybe that'll stop the rattling. Did you ever take it to the dealership for that too?

There is some sticky felt material they use for interior rattles on door panels, you might find it on a Porsche tech's workbench. Or maybe a local auto supply house. Pretty easy stuff to cut and use. I've also used something called Dynomat, a rubber padding with sticky on one side, pretty amazing stuff.

as everyone said, there is a few mm space that is causing the problem. I took a piece of paper and a blade, and simply fill the space with paper. It fixed the problem. Hey kinda like filling a cavity!

I had a rattle in mine as well.
It turned out the metal cigarette snuffer thingy was loose.

Try this :
1. Pull it out of the ashtray.
2. Pry the metal prongs that keep it in place a little futher apart and shove it back in.

It cured my rattle.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I have this very problem - and have had it since day one. It rattles particularly badly when going over a ribbed freeway overpass. Drives me crazy.

sometimes i turn it from left to right and it goes away.

Yes. That works sometimes. I think a small piece of felt between the top of the surrouding case and the clock itself might work too.

Any marine store(West Marine & others) will have velcro fasteners, where there are hook & loop strips with self-stick surfaces, made to cut to shape. I have one that is six 1"X2" pieces for $4.
