Sorry, the GT-R is hyped because with the above numbers, the HP to Weight numbers don't lie.
People will find out when they hit the streets and run up on a 997TT or a 996TT (for that matter) and have a hard time keeping up with either. I am sure it is then the 997 or 996 drivers will toss them a magazine to remind them what they should have done.

I'm not bothered by it at all. Your narrow-mindedness means nothing to me. I'll enjoy my GT-R when I get it in August.
Either way, reflecting on the numbers above, I don't see why the GT-R is so hyped. Just from the Ring numbers at this point? With a good driver and lots of cars out which respond very well to the road course right from the factory... I think if as much attention was placed on other brand of cars at the same track then the numbers would be pushed down with those cars as well. I know I am probably going to cause more of an arguement here but it was one of my sole purposes to show a decent driver can out perform the ones talking trash saying this and that can't be done. I understand this was on a drag strip and it is a different story on a road course but a driver is a driver and some have it and some don't and you aren't going to take that away from a person just because you place them from one seat to the other.
I'm hardly a troll. I've been a member here since July 2003. I've owned more Porsches then you probably ever will. Unlike you, I also enjoy cars from other manufacturers. The original title of the thread was 911 Turbo beats GT-R. You brought up the Challenger which has nothing to do with the original thread. You just insist on belittling the GT-R in every post.

Very classy move and a great way to present an 18 year old side of yourself.
Speaking of which, I guess your arrogance blinds you from capturing information extended throughout this thread which lead to my post.

Belittling? If that is what you want I can sure post plenty to belittle it if you wish.

The more I hear about the GTR the more I appreciate my Turbo. The GTR is this incredible sports car right? But in the next sentence the Turbo is either beating it or just fractions of a second behind it. In other words the cars are soooooo close in performance & since the GTR is that GREAT it makes me appreciate the Turbo even more. In the Porsche you get all that performance that is being talked about as incredible but then you also get a car that looks & feels like the Porsche, the interior of the Porsche along w/ it's great heritage, etc.
Besides which the GTR can never do what my Turbo Cabrio. can do

Well put!
I believe it's this reason and the GT-R nearing in comparison with performance numbers has people pushing the "YOU HAVE TO RESPECT IT" and when one doesn't... a group of defenders pushes it even more. In the end, let the performance speak for itself, you don't have to push it down peoples throats as a ribbing as it has been shown not only here on 6speed but lots of other boards as well.
I guess some people just can't understand another person not liking their brand of car. Seems a normal discussion leading to any derogatory remarks about this car and you have people come out of the wood works left and right; again... to be a model defender if you may and this only causes frustration for the board(s).
And now your point is? I stated something factual and you jump in showing my words hurt your poor little feelings. And now the arrogant role by tossing up I have done this and that.
Very classy move and a great way to present an 18 year old side of yourself.

Like I said before, you are not hurting my feelings. I could care less if you don't like the GT-R.
I was responding to you calling me a troll. I was showing you I am not a troll. You stated something factual that had nothing to do with the original thread. This isn't the One Lap thread.

Lastly, I am glad your feelings aren't tarnished.
Tony - enjoy your car. I hope that it provides to you the pleasure that our cars provide to us. It doens't matter the label but the experience each person gets out of their cars.
Fast and Furious is for the 1/4 miles guys. If that is the case I hope your clutch makes you happy after 8-10 passes down that small stretch of tarmac.
As I have said before it will take more than a few article to impress me.

One thing to note, though; it's really only quick from a dig (again, using LC). It has very short gearing and great shift speed, but the faster it goes, the slower it becomes relative to other fast cars (the Motor Trend drivers mentioned this as well).
It's 60-130 time is only 10.9 seconds, which means from a roll, it will get beat by a LOT of cars. See below for a few examples:
7.8 - LP640, stock
7.8 - C6 Z06, stock
9.2 - Porsche 997TT, stock
9.5 - Ferrari F430, stock
10.0 - 996TT with chip (otherwise stock)
10.3 - BMW M6, stock
10.4 - E60 M5, stock
10.9 - Nissan GT-R
11.0 - Shelby GT500, stock
11.7 - Ferrari Challenge Stradale, stock

I think your F&F comment might be more supportive to that of the drifting scene.

The F&F comment was the "I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time" and it was more in reference to his(VIN D's) monster Domestic sitting in the garage
We haven't gotten in Tokyo Drift yet....
With the AWD system I don't think they will win in that category. Although I did see a nice video of a 997 TT drifting.
