At a psychological level, I think every new owner worries "if one thing is broken from the factory, what else may be also?!?"

Senario #2 ......a prospective buyer offers the salesman more than what you paid. All of a sudden there's a prob with your car, hoping that you'll pass . Prospective driver backs out of the deal and suddenly Shazammmm...your ride has healed itself.

this is a really good point. you may get a new clutch for free down the line.

furthermore, i would try to negociate a couple grand returned to you at this time because the economy is in the ****ter and they are likely to give it to you if you make a minimum of fuss.

They disclosed the concern to you. They corrected it on PCNA's dime. IF anyone were to owe you something , it would be PCNA, NOT the selling dealership, why would they?

I would ask, maybe free tint, free detail(s), something that is not going to cost the dealership much. Bust as stated above, forcing a discount for something they only corrected on your behalf would not be the best way to start the relationship. If you are never going back to them for anything... why not?

Go test drive it ( for the day ) come back and make your mind up.

You have 4years or 50,000 miles.. IF something were to go wrong you are covered.

Don't make this a larger deal than it is.

Again, just my .03 worth...

Steve

p.s. Like noted above, push too hard, they could always keep the car and refund your money... that's no fun either.

They fixed the problem, and it is documented, so any similar failure in the future wouldn't be charged to the customer. Demanding free service is something that will bite the customer's wallet in the future if he ever goes back for service there in the future on his own dime, because they are going to stick it to him $$$ to make up for it. Those 15k mile services would probably find additional items that need to be replaced if you know what I mean. New parts fail, it happens a lot more often than you might think. Build a good relationship with your dealer, or you will end up paying for it in the long run IMHO.
Upon further review you present a solid argument. I was thinking in terms of the cars resale value being negatively affected. A good relationship is worth its weight in gold, and since they were honest enough to bring the problem to his attention AND resolve it quickly that does say alot about the integrity of the dealer.

Take it. As long as the issue was addressed and repaired by PCNA it's not a deal breaker IMO. Just make sure everything is well documented, if there are any issues in the future take it up with PCNA.

I think the sentiment is clear. Take the car as you have waited for it and ordered it the way you wanted it. To give it all up and start the process over again for a pressure plate with be a waste of your time. They fixed and documented it. It is still new and factory spec and warranty. If they didn't tell you and fixed it that would be a different story although the results would be the same but the trust would not.

Go drive it and enjoy it.

Thanks guys for all your responces. The sales guy called me again and I gave him my offer. I told him that I would not buy the car unless their is 15% discount on purchase price. He said that its too much and very difficult, then again I told him to take it or leave it. You know the economy is so bad and most buyers arnt receiving their cars and you should simply take advantage of it. I already got $5k under sticker. You guys are always reffering to pcna and didn't notice that I'm in the UAE. Btw the warranty given here is only 2 years unlimited milage. I'll keep you updated guys

Good thing is the cars are rev and speed limited from the factory until they are prepped at the dealership ,14mph IIRC

I am the one who begs to differ . I would not take the car because I don't want a car which renders doubt before it even gets out of the gate .

Peace of mind doesn't have a pricetag . I would opt for the refund .
You can buy a Porsche Turbo anywhere .
And buying one with problems is even easier to do .

Show me the money. Keep the car. That's what i would say.

Take the money and run DON'T walk. The cars are not moving. It will always be in the back of your mind that something might be wrong. PDI or pre-delivery inspection is nothing more than giving the car a good looking over before you take it. It is done at the dealership. I just don't trust the dealers, almost sounds like an employee took it for a spin and dropped the clutch. Check for over revs also. For example, no one at the dealership, even to this day can tell me why my car had 26 miles on it when I picked it up.

I would ask for a discount and take the car, +15k off isn't realistic imo, an additional 5-7k off would be fair.

I agree. And because of that I would not take the car. What good does it do you to get a discount and warranty and then have the car in the shop all the time for other stuff. I have gone through this on other cars and would never do it again. At the very least, it is a crap shoot.

It's a stuck pressure plate on the clutch, not rod knock!

What possible inherent long term nagging problem could there be? If there is an issue they replace the parts with new factory parts, end of story. The clutch has nothing to do with any other part on the car.

The car being devalued is ridiculous. It's amazing that the dealer even said anything.
