Love to! Got a good friend living there that I visit a couple times a year. I love it there. The Mustang fits into Polson just fine.

Get a Cayenne Turbo S. My wife just got one and, while it is a completely different animal from than the 997TT, it is still a heckuva nice ride.

Hi,

Build a serious lock-up garage at your entrance and just drive a bunky 4WD down the driveway?

Cheers,
Nik

I'm not 100% sure I'm gonna sell it, but obviously it would have to go at (depressed) market price and I'll take a beating - but I can't see keeping a car I can't take home. If you're interested send me a PM.

Lots of OE options plus the Tubi and brushed HRE P-40's

Huh? I hadn't heard about anything like that!! I'm going to search the web... Does it raise both the front and rear?

If you leave it in the hangar how much can it depreciate in another two years ? It has already taken the biggest hit . Miles will stay low . You still get to enjoy it .

In fact if Porsche takes the 997tt out of production for a year or two then the price could actually go up on a low mileage 997tt.

Sounds like a change of lifestyle of sorts. I would sell but that's just my opinion. I don't think I would have bought mine if I could only drive it 5 mos out of the year. From how you phrased things, I don't think you would be happy having the TT sitting in a hanger and all the other logistics you will have to overcome. In that sense, you can't enjoy the car like you are doing now.

If you enjoy driving your TT as much as I enjoy driving mine, selling it will make you only more depressed, you are going to miss the hell out of it, and from the looks of it you dont have anything remotely close to it, so you wont be able to get your kicks out. I'm not sure if flying can replace the feeling of driving a TT, but if it cant entirely, I would say hold on to it. The market is horrible right now, a low mileage TT can retain most of its value, and in the meantime you can really see if its worth driving 5 miles to go for a cruise, you may be surprised and realize its totally worth it.

Why not pave your driveway? Or at least have someone re-grade it to get rid of what I assume are runoff trenches cutting across the driveway? Depending on how long your driveway is regrading should be very affordable, and you do not want to miss the opportunity to rip around the lake in your 997t. If the driveway is really that bad, you are probably going to get frustrated with it eventually and either pave it or regrade it. Might as well do that before getting rid of the turbo!

Edit: I just saw your post about $350k to fix it. How long is your driveway? That seems really ridiculous. I would start with another quote. It may be cheaper to put in an entirely new access road somewhere else on your property. If your trees are good hardwoods, the cost of a new, graded driveway may be close to zero given the value of the trees. I've seen several driveways done up and over mountains for just a few thousand dollars where the trees were valuable enough and the owner let us spot-pick a few extra trees to take off the property. Get a logging engineer or logger to come out and give you an honest assessment of the tree value. Typical grading / paving companies are just going to either rip you off on the value of trees or offer you nothing and try to pass it off as scrap.

The nearest dealer is in Spokane WA, a dreary 300 miles. I could leave the TT in my airplane hangar in town and commute back and forth the 5 miles in my truck, but the logistics of keeping the car in the hangar during the summer, and not being able to drive it at least 5 months of the year due to really nasty weather are pointing towards selling it. I've been reluctant to reach a final decision, but living on the beautiful lake outweighs the fun drives in the TT. Has anyone here faced not being able to keep their TT at home for road/driveway/weather considerations? Any suggestions on how to sell an expensive car like a TT?

I'm depressed....

My car sits in the garage for the winter, it sucks but its life. Go buy a nice AWD car and it will make those days you can't drive it go by a little faster.
The RS4 is perfect and you can buy them cheap now.

The "driveway" is about .8 miles long and off an unpaved road. No trees until you get within 100 yards of home and lake. The .8 mile run is a straight shot to the two garages we have. The weather really takes a toll on the roads (graded dirt, gravel and paved) there. You have a good idea; when the snow melts up there I'll get another quote or two. Right now it would take a snowmobile to get to the home :>))

Out of curiosity, with two airplanes is there anyplace you fly to regularly and need a car when you get there? I'm considering leaving my car in NC with my son or in Boise where I spend the summers working. Only being home in northern Minnesota for the winters I'ld drive it more elsewhere.

The only places I fly to often is Montana, down to our place on Long Island Bahamas (definitely no place for a TT !!) and occasionally to NYC to see my daughter and son-in-law. My other travels take me to Shenzhen PRC quite often, and China isn't ready for a TT either.

I have quite a bit of time in Cassutts - fun airplane! See you at Reno in September. I raced my LongEZ there a couple of years, but Sport Class is way, way too fast now.
