Respectfully, you're just now finding out you can check the oil level on the dash?

"..how accurate is this if the engine is idling? i'm so use to check the oil with the dipstick"

Are you used to checking the oil with a dipstick while the engine is idling?

Again Respectfully, I'd suggest you spend a few nights reading your owner's manual before you drive the car any more.

Okay you cretin, I was nice twice with my two "respectfullies".

OF COURSE you don't check the oil level with the engine running; in my whole life the only other time I've heard of someone doing this was my ex wifes' explanation of how she checked the oil in our riding lawnmower an hour before she burned up the engine.

"Respectfully" that what i thought too but on Porsche you have to have the engine "running" to check the oil level. Like i said, learn to read first! "respectfully"

Yep, warmed up, level engine running at idle on the TT.

Have fun.

In sum:

There is no dipstick.

The computer display is used and is as reliable as we get. It is performed when the engine is warmed up, been idling for a minute or two, and on level ground. It will display a range of about 1.5 quarts from its min to max positions. There have been no issues with this method AFAIK.
