Stupid q's, but is it bad to drive w/o a exhaust system?

putting my flame suit onhilarious

but is it bad at all to drive a car w/o a exhaust system? not too far or frequently but i'm taking my exhaust system off this week and my new system wont be in for a little over 2 weeks so wanted to take it to the body shop so they can paint the lower pieces while its inop... i know it will through a cell due to the 02 sensors not being hooked up, but with my new system it will throw one either way. i also am tuned with evomsit so hopefully that won't do anything either way.

BAD IDEA???

aside from the CELs and real loud note, don't think it will do any damage. BTW, you are nuts my friend.

C4SxM5 Nov 10, 2009 06:26 PM

lol... i know. the cargraphic is loud but for some reason i always want louder! will post some sound clips once the car is completely finished.

The only problem I will see is the heat, that is not forced to go out behind the car. It could be that it is "collected" inside the engine compartment. I don't know if this can result in some damage, but I would not like the idea of a heat stream exiting directly form the turbos....

I have a stupid question, WHY?! Just cutting the mufflers will not throw any codes or CEL, unless you cut the cats. A simple tune can just shut off the 02 sensors in the cats and you will never get another CEL light for that. It will sound extremely loud, if you do it, please post a vid!

I would not do that, that cannot be good for your car.

Probably will just have it towed to be on the safe side. Just didn't want to scrape the lip going up those tow trucks and risk damaging anything being strapped down and all.

Hmm...I wonder what happens when you mix road debris like this:

with the spinning blades of this:

I think you get this:

So what pipes did you end up with?

C4SxM5 Nov 10, 2009 09:37 PM

Fvd catless system:) was gonna go straight pipe but Rhonda talked me out of it. Well c how it sounds compare to the cargraphic system in about 3 weeks and hopefully the car will be finally complete by then:).

You still going with the fvd 200 cell system?

I know the engine is in the rear but be careful with carbon monoxide poisoning.

C4SxM5,

We will try to deliver as soon as possible due to your predicament!! The bypass set up is awesome! Definately a good choice.

Thanks,
