Escort-Passport 9500ci heads up

I have had my 9500ci for just over a year and found it a great product. However the front and rear sensors recently stopped functioning properly. It turns out the sensors are not completely water proofed so moisture gets in and eventually causes damage to the electronics.

You need to silicone the sensors (2 front, 1 rear) to prevent this or pick up a $1K bill to replace them as I did. You won't get any sympathy from Escort - they appeared completely disinterested when I called.

Good luck!
K.

Where on the sensors did you silicone? My rear laser shifting alarm has been going off like crazy -- I think I'm in the same boat

Silicone

My laser shifter was doing the same thing - it would give an alarm & keep on regardless of what I did. Occasionally it would clear but for just a few minutes but then repeat the problem. As you know the screen gives lots of warnings re troubles that develop but there was no warning message re this problem. I had to turn mine off - and got a ticket. So o I took it to my Escort certified installer.

My installer put the silicone on. From what I could see, where the small tabs are that hold the unit together needs to siliconed all the way around. Sorry I can't be more specific but if you look at the sensor it should become clear.

Hope you can resolve this without having to buy a new sensor (or maybe you are still under warranty - hope so).
Good luck.

I know escorter hard-noses stay with escorts, but I have never heard of
anything so unexpectedly/absurdly expensive happening with a V1.
I think V1 would be embarrassed and probably switch you out with a
new one pretty cheap. However, finally Escort comes close with their
new Redline. It runs neck and neck with V1 after almost 15 years of
not even being close. Looks like I best not get the redline wet, however.

that is suprising to hear that these premium brand companies will not stand behind their products. there is no quicker way to lose a customer forever.

You're right, I will be looking at a new product next time around.

Great to know! I have one sitting at home, waiting to get installed!

For some reason the 9500xi still works well for me.

Any pics of the them mounted?

The OP is referring to a concealed unit, not the suction cups on the windscreen version.

I called my dealership this morning to let them know to expect a replacement rear laser shifter -- they informed me Escort had already called to confirm shipping. Way to go Escort -- Rep given & here are your kudos.
