Check Engine with Tubi

After installing my Tubi Street (with cats) exhaust, I got a check engine light after driving 100 miles. I dropped by the dealer and they said it was a cat deficiency? Basically resulted from the aftermarket cats. They cleared it but told me I would prolly get the error again unless i get a tune for the car via aftermarket tuner? Is anyone have this issue and are there any work arounds?

I'm sorry, yes, check engine light.

I have the Milltek exhaust with 200 cell sport cats and no CEL (check engine light) and it's been several thousand miles since the install.

You're missing my point...click on my link above regarding bungs.

Cars that have 100cell cats will need a reflash. Tubi uses 200s?

Cel

I had the same problem . Just add O2 bung extentions to the oxygen sensors. Once in a while, I get a CEL. I got an inexpensive OBD II reader that resets the error code (430). Takes about 1 minute to reset the CEL.

I had tubis for several thousand miles , no CELs ever. The tubis already have bung extensions I believe. Make sure the wires to the sensors are not grounding someplace. Yes, the tubis have 200 cel cats.

Your exhaust should not be throwing a CEL. It's either an install issue or bad cats.

That said, the bungs above are very effective and work on a car with NO cats so they can fix your issue if the cats are bad.

I installed the tubi's myself with a buddy and we double and triple check everything. We taped the o2 sensor up so they would not become damage. The check engine light that came on I believe was red. I had the dealer clear it and will check to see if it will come on again. The previous owner said it was installed on his vehicle for only 6 months before taking it off. Those that have check engine light, did you have the tubi exhaust?

I've had mine now for over 2K miles and never had a CEL. I installed it myself. Sounds like you've got a leak.

I have a Tubi race exhaust for my 997TT as well.
Get CEL quite often and needs to go back to dealer everytime and they charge me $70 every time!
Until now, I have evomsit software done by Rennsport-1. No more CEL!

It is bad that you didn't get the error code before reset; you don't know what side and what sensor has triggered it. I have heard that even professionals sometimes did manage to mess with the sensors, by breaking the wiring or simply putting the front sensor in the rear by mistake, what triggers the fault. So when you get the CEL again make sure that you get the code. I would not go with the bungs, because that is just tricking the system so it can't adjust to the real readings. Good luck, I hope there is nothing wrong with the cats (sometimes these exhaust get sold used because the original owner put leaded racing gas in and destroy the cats.)

I will contact the dealer again tomorrow or monday to get the exact code. The sensors were taped in the same position so they could not be mistakenly moved. I had to drive about 100 miles before the check engine light came on after the install. with the CEL, the car does not go in limp mode right?
