Which Is Quicker in 1/4mile?

I was over in the Aston Martin thread and a discussion came up, In your opinion which is quicker a 600HP 997 TT or a supercharged Aston Martin V8 Vantage?

My guess would be the TT as the Aston would probably break down part way down the track...

I agree, I owned a Vantage and it can not handle 600HP. The clutch, motor, chassis, brakes are not sufficient enough in my eyes for that kind of power. Evidently there is a guy in the Aston forum that thinks his supercharged Vantage can smoke me, yeah OK

Not a chance, he would need at least 700 hp to stand a chance because of the power to weight ratio. From a dig the turbo is just a killer. I really don't think he can.

Be for real. When did a question of speed come down to whether an Aston Martin could be a serious contender? My vote goes to the TT.

I've been following this thread on the Vantage forum. Almost everything that has been said is speculation or magazine racing. The two of you need to run your cars and post some time slips. You can make as many arguments as you want, but magazine times aren't going to hold water.

A supercharged AMV8 is never going to be able to play with the big boys, sorry, especially when they are only putting out in the low 400's @ the wheels supercharged.

It will need a built motor, more boost, blah blah blah, it is just a futile exercise with that ancient V8. Enjoy it for what it is, a performance platform it is not.

My AMV8 is about as fast as a stock 997tt. Here it is against a modded X50 that easily beats stock 997tt's.

The car is still running well after 1000's of miles.

^^^ That looks about right ^^^^

If you have 600 hp, you should leave him slightly more than that video. And from a dig you will kill him if you can drive decently.

You are putting out 430 wheel... I don't see you easily beating 997TT's, I see it being a drivers race from a roll and getting beat from a stop. With PDK in the mix, no chance.

Edit: Your 60-130 posted is 10.5... 997tt competitor you are not.

actually 60-130 of 10.5 is about what a stock 997tt runs. The rev limiter on a stock car makes it a 2 shift run for a stock 997tt. I have seen anywhere from 10-12 sec on a 6speed. A chipped 997tt with a 7200rpm limiter will run high 7's to low 8's with 1 shift.

10.5? I saw mid 9's...

Plus I would fully expect the PDK turbos to be in the high 8's/low 9's.

Either way, I think it is pretty clear a supercharged aston V8 is only going to hang with a stock 997.1 turbo on pump and only from a roll.
