WORLD PREMIERE: NEW Champion Motorsport VTG Turbochargers

Champion Motorsport would like to introduce our new 997 VTG Turbocharger, that has been in design and engineering for over a year now.

Features of this new turbocharger include: A new for 2010, Billet 65mm, 7 blade compressor wheel. This compressor wheel is an evolution of our very popular and reliable 63.5mm, 6 blade billet compressor upgrade that was available on re-machined standard cast housings. Another feature of this new Champion Motorsport turbocharger upgrade is the re-machining or "clipping" of the exhaust turbine. This feature allows an increase in turbine flow to properly match the revised sizing of the new compressor. All of these features, put together, allow VTG functions to remain precise, while allowing all of the benefits of some of the "NON-VTG" aftermarket conversions.

For this new 65mm compressor upgrade, you will receive a pair of brand new CNC Machined billet compressor housings, fit to the standard Porsche VTG Cartridges (CHRA's) and Turbine housings. Compressor upgrades are available for 997.1 and 997.2 (non compressor mounted blow off valve) Twin Turbo models. This upgrade is done on a core exchange basis only. We have cores in stock and turn around time is very short.

Contact Champion Motorsport directly to inquire about our complete upgrade packages for 2007 - 2010 997 Twin Turbo cars..

Stay Tuned for dyno testing results on both 997.1 and 997.2 cars with complete CMS upgrade packages.

Can't wait the dyno result. Since i am a big fans of champion and werks1 products! Just got the werks1 intercooler and waiting for install.

All the parts from you guys are PERFECT FIT!
Please keep us update on these upgrade VTG turbos!

Btw, just read the european car magazine, featuring champion/werks1 turbo. Is that car runing on this upgraded turbo??

Thank you for all the kind words.
The car in the article did not have the new turbochargers at that time, but we are in the process of getting the car ready for them. We should hopefully have our dyno results posted soon.

Do you have any compressor maps available? What is the expected hp/tq #'s?

I am surprised by the lack of activity in this thread

Suprised myself as well, This is exactly the setup I was waiting to see. With all the Fancy Mitsu EVO hybrid turbos something like this was bound to develop. I worked with a guy on building a set of Hybrid Twins on the Supra (GT28 CHRA, Turbine & Compressor wheels in the stock exhaust housing with the stock comp covers) Looked OEM and made 600rwhp. I was very happy with the result. Now with the new style Billet wheels making such a huge impact in these smaller frame turbos, id love to see how these are going to perform in the 997 which has done so well with the 3076r's.

I read above in this thread that the stock inducer is 44mm... and these are 65mm??

I've heard some preliminary pricing figures and I can honestly say, the price is VERY fair compared to the current upgraded VTG offerings on the market.

Greetings,

I have some information to share on our new CNC Machined Billet VTG Turbocharger.

We previously offered a Generation 1 turbocharger upgrade which utilized a billet CNC 6 blade wheel. This 6 blade wheel has a 63.5mm exducer, and a 45.8mm inducer, with a 46.75mm ID bore size. This turbocharger produced great results for us with power potential between 550 and upper 600's depending on the specific tuning and other associated parts.

The New Billet turbocharger has been sized and engineered to continue to take full advantage of the VTG system, correct the flow issues that are encountered by increasing the compressor wheel in the small standard housing, and offer a larger window for power potential. Any tuner can take advantage of these units in their own kits, but Champion Motorsport will offer our completed tested and tuned power kit which will incorporate Software, intercoolers, air box, etc.. The compressor wheel sizing for these new units is as follows: Exducer: 65mm, Inducer: 46.9mm, with inlet bore size of 48mm.

We are also very deep in the development of our new turbocharger for the 997.2 2010 Twin Turbo, prototypes are already being tested, and it will use an even more radical compressor wheel, stay tuned, as we will release details of the dyno tuning and the completed kits here very soon.

All of our kits from here forward are built around our "new for 2010" Champion Motorsport intercooler package. With CFD designed cast aluminum end tanks, which we are proud to say are made in America. These end tanks are welded to a new proprietary intercooler core. This core is bar and plate construction, but the turbulator density both internally and externally has been maximized for this specific application. The newest intercoolers have been both flow bench tested against the CMS Bell Core versions, the OEM 2009 and earlier versions as well as the OEM 2010 intercoolers. The 2010 CMS intercoolers come out on top of all testing so far. We also have done a vast array of thermal efficiency testing, and on a 997.1 TT running 2450mb boost we have seen over a 30 Degree Celsius drop in plenum temperature!! I personally logged data today on the test car and the AT sensor in the front bumper was showing 65F Ambient temperature, and under full load at 2450mb boost we logged 73F in the Y-pipe!! ZERO knock control activation !! Enough on the Intercoolers for now. Stay tuned tomorrow, and I will post some photos to this thread.

All of our new products for 2010 are extensively tested. The 2 cars that we are working with right now, are outfitted with data logging and testing kits for generating data necessary to optimize these products, while maximizing reliability. We measure compressor inlet depression, pre and post turbine pressure, along with a dozen or so other useful sensors.

In regard to a response on Inlet pipes, Yes, it is true, we are in the process of building Carbon turbocharger inlet pipes for both the 997.1 and .2 twin turbo cars. Much of our recent testing has been done specifically to study and determine the need for these parts. With modified standard inlet pipes on a 997.1 TT we can achieve less than 4 inches of vacuum at the compressor inlet with our billet charger at 2450mb boost pressure, this is a fair number, but can be better and we intend to achieve it with a bolt on set of Werks 1 Carbon inlet tubes.

A few photos of the test car..
Thanks for the interest..
