Guards Red - Asking for Trouble?
I had a Guards TT with the natural leather. IMHO, the best looking Porsche combo on the market. How in the hell would anyone get near your rear end to hit you? Seriously man, you are in a turbo.
any photos????
Crap no. Got it new in 2007. Traded it in for a Cab in 08 with natural leather but with blue exterior for my wife. I wish I had pics. It was beyond good looking. ALL Porsche's are GUARDS RED.
Thanks guys for the comments. Guards is not as popular as it used to be, but for me it's been the "only" Porsche color since I first saw it 30 years ago in the first gen. whale tale Porsche Turbo.
The lip is the very well made but (unfortunately) very expensive Techart I front llip - around 2400. It's by far the best integration to the stock car the I've seen. (See if Dan/Vivid Racing could give you a better deal.) People have asked, and I've looked, but nothing else looks like it. Here is another shot.

Definitely consider Guards Red
Three of my Porsches were Guards Red--'99 Coupe, '04 GT3, and the '86 930 I currently own. Three of the four cars we own now are bright red. It used to be the color for Porsche. I don't know what changed and why all that you find these days on dealer lots are black, silver, and grey cars, but bring back the color! I have done the greys and blacks, but never seem to be happy with them for long.

I used to be a huge fan of bright red sports cars, but after having several over the years, I've lost the love for them.
A red F car or possibly an older 930 still does it for me, other than that, I'll pass.

I've heard the same thing. I say go with what you want.
The TT is already a looker and will likely garner stares no matter the color. This is a good thing as people tend not to get too close to me from behind! Something about ruining a piece of automotive art just doesn't sit well with most people...
I think if you didn't get a car just becasue of the color, you may always look back with a little bit of regret. You'll enjoy the heck of the car for sure, but you might find yourself going in for a vinyl wrap in a few years!

I'm thinking about opening up my specs for exterior color in my search for a 997TT. Instead of just Cobalt blue or Meteor grey, I'm considering Guards red.
This is a huge deviation from my previous feeling that I would never own a red car for fear that it would draw too much attention from LEO's.
I've also felt that red cars were prone to being rear-ended a lot because of the lack of color contrast between the car and the brake lights.
C'mon. Gimme your two cents!

This is my second Guards Red Turbo, 993 and now 08 997. Love the color. Easy to keep clean and definitely gives it an exotic look.
I have black interior with red stitching and lighted doorsills. It looks great. Go for it.
