Leo, nothing is the end of the road, you just have not talked to the right person :p. EP is an excellent exhaust well liked by many, but it is not the one if loud and aggressive is what you are looking for. First, IMHO you should try to post on this forum to see if other people on the forum have the following exhausts for you to listen too. Don't buy any more exhaust and don't trust web postings until you have listened to a few *in person*. *If* American V8/V10 sound is what you are after, then it is an absolute must that you try to find a GMG exhaust to listen too. This exhaust will give you a good ear cleaning and is quite satisfying, assuming you like the loundness. It is too loud for me and probably too loud for a daily driver but might be the perfect choice for you. One notch below GMG with respect to loudness and aggression, but has been around a long time with a cult following :p is of course my exhaust, Cargraphic. Both Cargraphic and GMG have what I would call a "full bodied" sound with "big" low frequency purr and rumbling at low throttle. The shift to screaming mechanical sound occurs at WOT. Multiple other choices as well. FVD is another interesting one. A lot of the American exhausts "I haven't listened too, but I am sure some will give you the loudness you want. The key is to listen first, in person. Just post on this forum to find owners. BTW, during auditioning, the opening loud sound when you first turn on the engine doesn't count :-). What's important is you in the car driving, with windows up (how I/we drive 90% of the time) and windows down (the other 10%). If the sound in these 2 situations are not loud and aggressive enough for you, then it's not the right exhaust. The exhaust sound when you are INSIDE the car as driver is much more important than when you are OUTSIDE as bystander. Outside sound always sounds better but as a driver, obviously you won't hear it. Outside sound's main usage is for parking lot demo's and impressive web sound clips; fun, but not that relevant to the driving experience. GMG is very tempting but $6400 for a exhaust is way out of my budget and logical! If I ever find a used exhaust I be very interested! Did you ever check out Techart? I'm interested in your opinion. Do you really think some exhaust deliver more power than others? I tried 3 different exhausts in my car, I didn't take my car to the dynno but I think they were all the same... Different noise but they felt the same.... Maybe Techart felt a littler better but not a BIG remarkable difference. Thank you for giving me your opinion, I agree with you. |

Kidding aside, with the EP already coming, I think a reasonable course of action is to try it. 2. I agree with your assessment regarding power. There are even complaints of subjective low end torque loss with after-market exhausts. Despite of vendors' claims, the most you should expect is the sensation of faster pooling. That said, what the exhaust does is allow you to gain more power when you do an ECU tune. In other words, after market exhaust itself doesn't gain power, but ECU tune with after market exhaust gains more power than ECU tune with stock exhaust, because of reduction in back pressure from using less dense catalyst, 100-200 CPSI versus 600 CPSI for stock. 3. Sorry Leo, I have never heard of Techart Exhaust. In fact I think *you* will be the exhaust expert soon as you are now are in a position to compare loudness of 4 exhausts! Good luck with your search. Remember to trust your own ears as this is a very personal decision, what's most popular is not necessarily what's right for you. There is no right or wrong, and there is no single "best" exhaust on the market when it comes to sound, totally personal taste. Remember to test the exhaust sitting inside the car with windows up, and down. |

1. Did the GMG exhaust price go up - web site says $4990? http://www.gmgracing.com/store/index...st-series.html . I am sure on the used market it would be even cheaper. Just start a thread like "Anyone Thinks Your GMG Is Too Loud?," then get ready to make your offer. :p

Leo - as Can responded, if you expect the EP1 to be loud you're in for a big disappointment...the EP1 has a great sound and you should like that but it is just not loud.

...Sorry I though we were talking about the xpipes http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=140812502707 I believe there are 2 versions of GMG Xpipe, the regular steel version is 5k. The more expensive you quoted above is titanium. |

Thanks, but the only one I'm really interested in is an EP1. If you end up not liking the EP1, maybe we could work something out. I tried sending you a PM, but i'm still light on posts to be able to send. It's funny but everybody is afraid of the Techart exhaust because it doesn't have a lot of reviews... I think is a good exhaust and it will be perfect for me if my car wasn't Automatic. It's a $6000 exhaust that's why it doesn't have a lot of reviews because TA go hardcore with the Porsche TAX Techart is very quiet if you are going slow... Almost like stock but if you go over 4500RPM it gets really but really loud! I wish my car was Manual... |

Why is it a problem for you with a Tip - too much drone?
With the Techart there is 0 drone, the car is almost like stock (in low RPM) I don't really care much about drone (I can deal with it) Tip cars drive low RPM so I never get to hear the exhaust... I only hear the exhaust when I'm driving over 4000 RPM |

just keep tip in manual mode- shift when you want- nice that
it downshifts by itself in manual mode when you slow down for light, etc & also upshifts on its own at max rpm when you're on it- I too would rather have 6 sp but i got what was on island at nice price- Also been looking for exhaust for my 07 turbo- listened & drove an EP2 in town on a nice 07 turbo 6sp- the EP2 really wasn't loud to my ears- sounded perfect to me.did have some drone (as stef mentioned to me) between 2200 - 2600 rpm- still waiting to hear EP1 in person- . |

As for why I'm only interested in EP; you're not far off on your assessment - lots (unbelievable number) of glowing reviews on EP & would prolly be tough(er) to listen to a TA. No chocolate for Cannga. |
TA is a very well known German tuner, extremely high end stuff. I got a feeling Leo will be keeping the TA.
