Leo, wait...I am glad someone had asked you to explain! I did not realize your car was automatic, a bad assumption on my part. The problem here is the transmission type, not necessarily the Techart Exhaust's fault!
First I do agree with your assessment. Automatic transmission does present some issues, primarily because you don't have control over the engine RPM speed, and therefore exhaust sound. (While you could drive an automatic car in manual mode, I've always found it to be so cumbersome for some reason.) This brings implication of potential problems both with cruising (drone when rpm below 3000) and loudness as you have noticed.
I also agree with TT Surgeon and jhbrennan's points. Techart is a top notch tuner who knows what they are doing and make very high quality components. Now I don't know how loud it is but I do not think EP1 will be louder. Second, read jhbrennan's assessment closely (he is an EP pioneer and had it years before it became popular) - EP1 has great sound, but if it's loudness you are after, it's not the one. At the least, you should have gone for EP2.
Merely trying to help here: Unless you have so much $$$ to burn, I actually would NOT install the EP1. That way you could resell it as brand new and take very little hit. The GMG remains a potential candidate, but with an automatic car, I am leery about drone at 2000-3000 rpm (manual car owners cruise at 3000 rpm and therefore escape the drone problem, automatic car has no control of rpm in auto mode). Cargraphic Loud is also a candidate but I do not know whether it is louder than your Techart; it should from your description, but I don't know for sure. Lastly, I could see you are trying to convert your exhaust to catless: that might just work and to me is the best solution.
Lastly a subtle but important point: A good exhaust should not be loud at cruising RPM and/or constant low throttle because otherwise it would give you a headache like you wouldn't believe. It should only get loud say at 3300-3500 and above and at WOT. So if your car is quiet at cruising speed, that's the way it should be (mine is fairly quiet at 3000 rpm too). Good luck and sorry I haven't been of much help here; the automatic transmission does limit what I would comfortably recommend.
