Help with running front LED's on 997.2TT
How do I get the front LED strip of lights to operate when in the OFF or daytime running light position ?
Only the round ones under the turn signal come on in this position and I would like the strip of LED's to be on as they were in my 09 C2S. As a matter of fact the full bank(strip) of LED's don't come on in any of the lighting positions ?? Is there an adjustment setting ? Thanks |
The full bank of LEDs won't come on as only the outside corner lamp is a "spot" lamp.
The remaining lamps are your front left and right turn signal indicators. |

So you mean that unlike the C2S where the full bank of LED's are always on, the LED lights on the Turbo are essentially nonfunctional except for use as a turn signal indicator ??
That sucks |
The circular array of LED lights below the turn signals are your tt DRL's, unlike the Carrera which uses white LED's in the turn signal array as your DRL's.
Cheers |
Only the 2011 tts come with DRLs? Watched a video with Porsche CEO not too long ago and he explained and showed how the front LEDs are now Daytime Running Lights.

Both U.S. 2010 tt and Carrera have white LED DRLs. DRL's are the circular array below turn signals on tt and inside the turn signal array on Carrera. Porsche finally gave us a bit more visibility to the Escalade drivers on a cell phone (at least for those 911 drivers that didn't run their headlights all the time in self defense anyway).
Cheers |

Cheers I gotta check this out - I never actually looked! I have a 2010 Turbo. It has some round white fog lights and 2 strips of LED's up front. Used for signals and I presumed they glowed white too. I always assumed the strip of LED's was lighting up white. I have seen other 911's on the road with these glowing, so I assumed mine were too, but actually I took a look now, and it seems like only 1 LED in the strip is glowing white! I have no idea what "circular array" of LED's I am missing haha. I might have to look a little closer tomorrow. But now I am also wondering about this. Does this mean on a 2010 Turbo, the strips of LED's up front will not all glow white? They only glow orange for signalling? Seems ridiculous - but is this true? Do I need a "mod" for this? haha. Sorry to be so daft, but really, this seems like it should be standard - why do it different on the 2010 Turbo I wonder? |

Yup and thats why I got these installed on my last 3 Turbos (link and pic from Sledgehammer):
http://www.hoen-usa.com/city.htm how did you do it so you have DRL? |
Currently the only company offering this mod that im aware of where there's a whole row of led drl ligths like the C4S is Speedart at $1500 + a $1000 core deposit ,Vivid is supposed to introduce a cheaper version but we are still waiting for them.Seems Porsche left the Turbo owners out on this basic lighting design.

i was also surprised to find the more agressive front light set up on the turbo is all show and no go.
i hate those stupid little round DRL's. |

I guess this photo shows the stock daytime running lights on my 2010 Turbo.
I want the strip effect! Can't believe I'll have to modify my car for that though! haha. |

It's up on 2 actually - at Autocross haha. Good catch by the photographer, I was stoked he caught that too! :) And the pole looks close I know - but it's telephoto compression effect from the long lens. I tried to upload a bigger photo - trying again (so picky on file sizes for uploads! Why isn't that automatically done by the robots eh?): |
