pretty much what you can do to a 997.1

- Vorsteiner vrt carbon fiber body kit (10K)
-elimination of rear spoiler with a non movable
-pccb which weight 1/2 of the standard brakes , or some cheap drilled and slotted ones (5k used )
-Lightweight batttery ( cheap -30 lbs ) (200$)
-gt2 or gt3 seats if you want to keep airbag or recaro poleposition ( 7-10k for gt2 &gt3 seats or 4k for recaro)
-carbon fiber fender 4k
-carbon fiber roof 3k
-carbon fiber doors 5k
-carbon fiber hood 1k
-oz , adv1 or bbs FI ( the most lightweight unsprug weight reduction )
-lighweight suspension , control arms . ohlins I heard its the best (5k I am not sure)
-remove stuff from trunk ( cheap -50lbs)
-maybe light weight crankshaft and titanium rods
-3inch xpipe exhaust 3-5k

-oz , adv1 or bbs FI with toyo r888 ,hoosier or nitto ( the most lightweight unsprug weight reduction ) (-20-30lbs )

Stock clutch, dual mass flywheel and pressure plate - 47lbs
ERP Triple Carbon with steel flywheel -28lbs
ERP Triple with aluminum flywheel - 22lbs

Savings of 20-25lbs rotational weight.

Another thing to consider is tires, some tires weigh more than others !

Great point, R888s are among the more heavy tires (generally 2-3lbs per tire heavier than most others). Other than the additional grip, I offset this by putting them on really lightweight OZ wheels.

Tires play a part for sure, next to rims.

I found the 996 thread to be interesting. They remove and weigh. 300lbs sounds great but, at what cost for the equivalent of 47HP? (thanks HeavyChevy.)

If I were to drag the car, this works, but, I like to track my car and, less weight to throw around in every corner make corner make this much easier when power to weight is irrelevant.

You have 40lbs to loose to offset your roll at and harnesses going in. Seats should do that. It all adds up. After the upcoming diet my car is currently on I'll be at 3190 with fuel minus driver with a full interior car. Basically 300 lbs lighter than when I got the car. How heavy was your car when Chris had it on the scales? How much fuel was on board?

Car was 3,692 lbs. 130lbs driver weight. I think he got that perfect.

Harness Bar puts me over 3,7K, " wrong direction." I have lost the rear seats, belts, and woofer. Also a ton of insulation in the rear fenders.

I haven't weighed any of it though.

3692 - 130 - 80 (alignment equipment) = 3482 (car w/ unknown amount of fuel)

Bumping this thread as I just returned from BBI with some weight loss ideas.

I have two weight loss mods so far -

BBI stainless exhaust with 200 cel cats.
Ohlins coils with BBI dog bones+end links

Not sure how much weight this saved, maybe 25 pounds, however offsetting this is a fuel cell mounted in the trunk holding 3 gallons of meth nexessary to run 650+ wheel on the 997.2. The fuel cell plus lines, fittings, etc plus 3 gallons of fluid is well over 25 pounds so I'm pretty sure I've gained more weight than I have lost.

This thread has some good ideas for weight loss. For now I think I'm going to start with simple stuff:

OZ 19"s wheels
Recaro Sportster CS seats
Rear seat removal

These should net over 100 pounds of weight loss. Not sure how much the wheels weight vs the stock centerlocks, but the unsprung weight reduction will be nice. The Recaros and BBI bracket are about 25 pounds each vs stock adaptive sport seats which are nearly 70....so that's almost 100 pounds right there. The rear seat looks like about 20 pounds as well.

That should get me started. I don't want to do anything that is not easily reversible.

Any other quick and easy ideas?

For 19" it looks like the options are Ultraleggera or Formula HLT.

The Challenge 18" is probably lighter but I would like to stick with 19's.
