Okay, back to 997.1 TT Goodies!!!!

Alex (AKA Sharkster) posted a thread regarding some "New Goodies" that could be install in one hour or so. Seems like a hell of a deal to me! So I replied to his posting asking for one hour of his time. He replied within 7 minutes, took me another 10 to reply back, 15 minutes later we had a time and date set for the install. All-in-all the total transaction took 32 minutes all via his 6speed thread, no PM's, no phone calls, and no personal emails....everything done via one thread!

PRETTY COOL...what a great forum & community we have here!

This morning, I arrived 5 minutes late or so and jokingly told Alex I was going to hold him to his word of "one hour or less"!!! I barely got my laptop out, replied to 3 emails if that, 2 quick phone calls and BOOM! My keys were handed back to me. I believe they did it in 40 minutes!!!!

Now that's what I call service!!! In and out in a timely manner, just how I like it.

Alex it was great seeing you again today and catching up.
Thanks again, VID997

RE: The ride. I did notice a difference. The car actually seemed smoother, "more as one" and connected throughout. My wife even commented on the ride today and asked what I had done to it this morning. She's like, "did you do new bushings or mounts, or something like that?" I said, close, new engine mounts. She was thinking I did some new suspension bits... in essence, she was correct...new engine suspension bits.

^^^ Sorry for the blurry iPhone photos. I do really like the last one above though. More air please!

I'll try and write-up a track performance review after my next LS event towards the end of May.

Cheers

bob

Bob,

After driving the car for a few days now, "sloppiness" is not a word that comes to mind at all. The shifting feels very solid and precise. Firm, direct, and positive would be another way to characterize it. Also, I have noticed an increase in engine noise within the cabin, which I actually like. It has a higher pitch sound to the rmp's, kind of Ferrari'ish. Keep in mind I have a Tubi RACE System which adds to the overall sound as well.

It may not be for everyone, but I like it. The car now has more of a "RAW" sound and feel to it...a good thing in my book. With my suspension, engine work, exhaust system, tire choice, and now these engine mounts, its a far cry from a "luxury" Sport GT.

Cheers & enjoy your weekend!

FINALLY! I can't believe it, my new shoes arrived today after literally months of waiting.

Last November I blew the slide wall out on my Sparco's and started the hunt for new shoes. A quick search online and I came across these OMP EVO ONE's. Thought they looked pretty nice. However, they/are were "New for 2012". Being it was the end of November I figured they should be available after X-mas. Within the first week or so in January I placed my order.

Almost FIVE MONTHS LATER they arrived!

Must be nice not to have to get any product out the door with any sense of urgency and still stay in business.

They were definitely worth the wait. The quality, craftsmanship, and materials are top shelve throughout. I'm very impressed. Lets hope they last longer than my Sparco's did! As timing has it, they arrived just in time for a break-in session at Laguna this weekend!

Okay, so I like music and can truly appreciate raw talent. Phil completely laid down the gauntlet tonight. I have never heard the song he sang tonight for his second solo performance...but I can tell you this, I would buy the "album" and everyone else in the room with me would have as well.
MORE MUSIC PICKS BS: Work has been kicking my butt lately...finally was able to catch up with AI late last night, and just found out my early predictions were spot on.

Congratulations to Phil Phillips!

I am looking forward to hearing his first album.

Had a fairly decent day at Laguna this past Sunday. Set my fastest lap time to date thus far. However, I corded my front right, outside edge of my R6's during S2. Our qualifying session is S3. After taking in several opinions/suggestions I was advised to remove my right wheel and put in on the left. Therefore, replacing the right tire with the left side and then run 5 laps or so for qualifying. Came in early and pulled the R6's off and replaced them with the RE-11's for the rest of the day.

Guess its time to address some alignment issues while running R6's. The rears are wearing very nice and even across the surface, not the case with the fronts. I think with the increased speed, grip, and braking the R6's afford, I need something different to make the proper adjustments.

I'll be ordering new Tires tomorrow and scheduling a more aggressive alignment. With that alignment I'll also have the car corner balanced. While doing the afore mentioned, I think this would be a good time to install some new suspension bits as well. I plan on keeping my stock shocks, CMS springs, sway bars, and front shock tower brace.

Unfortunately these did not arrive in time for LS on Sunday. First round prototype carbon fiber CUP style fender extensions. VID design, designed only to work in conjunction with a Champion Werks1 Chin Spoiler. I'll be sending out a revised R2 prototype design tomorrow. I wanted to run a thicker plate. However, the Carbon Fiber Plate manufacturer recommended 1mm, I wanted 1.5mm or 2.0mm. After installing these and confirming the design, fit, flex, and finish. I'm going to add two more mounting points and have them produced at 1.5mm and in a wider weave.

At some point, I pulled out half of my rear right mud flap and needed to put it back in, which required the removal of the rocker panel. This baby holds a lot of rubber and road debris! I suggest pulling these off occasionally and dumping out a pound or two of junk!

Hopefully we can get all this wrapped up before June 17th...our next and last LS date for us this year then off to Thunderhill and Infineon to finish the season off.

Not sure where you found time to start the mods again- we just got back! In fact my car is still packed with all my gear.

I was talking to the guys that built my rollbar about alignment and what should be done when I finally move up to R6 type tires and they agreed you can really turn up the camber but it might have counter affect for street driving. The RE-11s should be able to take some alignment tweaks though.

Great time on Sunday and already registered for the last LS date as well.

Good point...hmmm...JWE said they could...???? We shall see. Maybe they have some tricks up their sleeves or were just assuming I have coilovers? Who knows, I just know some adjustments will need to be made for the 17th.

Where is my Stock exhaust and Prototype F1 SS System?

Yeah I think they believe you have coilovers. IIRC stock 997t is not adjustable.

I have texted you many times about when we can get it welded up! You never answered I had to create this thread!

I'll drop off your stock exhaust tomorrow. It has been sitting in the back seat of my commuter car for weeks

Btw I got a Model S on order... track time with it ?

Interesting, Daren. Looks like the cogs have been active thinking of new products
What's the intended purpose? Allowing a wider front tire, aero, both? I would have to assume it's not purely cosmetic.

Hey Enrique, No worries I'm just bustin' your B's

I'm really not in any hurry until we're done at LS for the season. As its stands I'm the Meatball Master there anyway....a louder system is only going to get me booted out earlier and slow me down

Actually I'm even somewhat concerned about running it at TH since they too have booted my Tubi RACE System, blowing at 105db. Might be able to pull it off at Infineon, although were are not running there until September.

Your Partner did text or email me saying he was going to drop it off, but he no showed. I have faith in you two, so don't sweat it. Maybe we can try it out toward the end of June.

Its that a 991S?

Hey Ed, Glad to see you active. Been meaning to PM and check in with you. Hope all is going well.

Actually you are correct with "Aero". These are proven to increase down force on GT3 CUP Cars and Spec 911 Race Cars. Running with 7mm spacers up front in conjunction with the R6's has really minimized the inherent understeer these Turbos are prone to possess. I made about four artboard mock-ups before getting everything just perfect, angles, shapes, offsets, and of course aesthetics. These 1mm are the first "real" ones I have had made. The fit is PERFECT. However, the 1mm sub-straight is just a tad too flexie and has some deflection to it. I added two more mounting points to my original design and sent out for 2mm versions today. Unfortunately they will not be done until June 20th, Next LS date is on the 17th

Below is my original concept drawing I did back in February:
