My first Porsche.. I'm going 997. Looking for advice..
I have been looking at this forum for a while. I had a c6Z up untill last year and took a little time off. Time to jump back in a try something else. I love the turbo's and car looks sooo sexy with a nice set of wheels!
I have a few questions: I'm looking at an 08/07 997.Most low mileage 997s I see ar between 80-90k. Does that seem about right? I found one that has 10k miles, Carbon brakes, sport seats , etc.. It doesnt have sports crono. Do I need this if I am going to put the 700 kit on anyway? Or should I wait untill I find one with sport chrono? I feel the carbon brakes are a better option than buying a car without the carbon brakes but has sports chrono? Am I correct? Thanks in advance. I hope to be joining the fun this month. Regards, |
I posed the same question about the sport Chrono a month ago. Do a search for the details. Basically, there were good arguments on both sides, but most posts went the way of the Chrono being a must. I went with the Chrono in an 09 which is pretty much loaded. It has the A/C seats and carbon interior also, but no carbon brakes. My coupe had 9k miles on it and I paid 97k with the CPO and a clean carfax. I've seen a lot of 08s and 07s between 85 and 100k with low miles. If you're patient, I think you'll find exactly what you're looking for in that price range. Good luck.

I picked up my 2008 coupe about 1 week ago. CPO cars tended to run a bit more in the low mileage range you were looking at. From lurking in the forums it appears that sports chrono is more important than the ceramic brakes. Sounds like the big concern is the replacement cost of the rotors. They seem to be really helpful if you're gonna track the care, but people seem to put steels on if they do a lot of tracking.
I ended up getting sports chrono but no ceramic brakes. I guess if you're sure you're going to mod the engine, it doesn't really matter. |
Sport Chrono is more important than PCCB for sure. Red brake stop just as good;)
