DIY INSTALLED: Escort Redline, Smoked side marker and LEDs, Red SMD LED license light
My hands are itchy to get started with the small things on my grey TTS. I bought a few things and installed them.
1. Changing the license plate fastoon bulbs to red SMD LED. Very simple: unscrew, detatch holster, swap bulbs, screw back in. Made sure I tested polarity before putting everything back. Nice and bright with uniform red color in the rear. (5 minutes)
2. Changing the side marker to smoked color. Quite simple: pull the side marker out a little and use a flathead screwdriver to pressure the metal clip. (Thanks to forum users here for the kind instruction.) While at it, I also changed the bulbs to 9 SMD LED bulbs; damn bright! (10 minutes)
3. Hard wired the Escort Redline radar detector. Reasonably simple: hide the wires neatly across the edge of windshield, find and tap an unused fuse in the footwell, ground the negative anywhere. The hard wire also included a covert mute button, so I ran wires to the bottom of the center console. (30 minutes)

You have to choose the "error free" or "CANBUS" version of any LED bulbs to ensure an error free use.

When the next spring arrives, and if you plan to visit some of the reputable tuners around NJ, do give me a heads up. I will go with you. Thanks.
