The steering wheel that you instal today has also the lights ?

UOTE=Emre@Esmotor;3545712]Ff you buy this steering wheel (997-044-402-16-A10 STEERING WHEEL)
it works together with this electronic part (997-613-289-01 ELECTRONICS )

but you have to go to the dealer for coding of the new electronic unit.

It works even on 2008 Carrera 4s which i have done today.

Regards,
Emre[/QUOTE]

Called Suncoast the other day and they told me that it wouldn't work on the turbos only on non-turbo cars... Go figure

Emre

Thank you for sharing your finds... How difficult is the programing, I guess the dealers here in the US are not as knowledgeable as you guys (not a surprising fact), if that something that could be done remotely?

I just don't want to spend 1400 + for the setup and then my dealer says Sorry can help you...

thanks

No problem, i'm happy to help you guys.

After the installation of the new electronic unit and the steering wheel,

Dealer must get into Coding section of the Steering wheel in PIWIS menu.

They must code the steering wheel as "PDK".

Then you MAY need to "re-calibrate the Steering wheel sensor" in order to not to get PSM faults. (some cars it does need this calibration)

Thats all

I also saw that there is an option to code the steering wheel as SPORT lights function, but im not sure if its working or not.

All the steering wheels that we installed here are the plain version (which doesn't have the lights.)

you have to buy the steering wheel, the airbag and the control unit. After you have to go to a PD and coding the contro unit. the sport light on steering work.

Dang! Seems like not all dealers know how to get this to work. I'm almost certain that Porsche of Arlington will have no clue.

The part 997-613-289-01 ELECTRONICS -what is it ,is it a control unit that is out side of the steering wheel or the harness-wires part in the steering wheel itself ?

It's an electronic unit just at the back of the airbag.
You will see it when you remove the airbag.

Cheers,
Emre

I think there is an option in the Durametric for PDK. I will check if I can remember too. I am in Chantilly so if so you can get all that stuff and I will meet you to do the software change
