Pdk paddles to tiptronic Turbo
#32
Well....
As stated on earlier posts there are two ways to do it...
I would avoid first method due to many working hours needed. So if anyone is willing to install paddle wheel he needs to buy the wheel, airbag and steering wheel control module and install them...Piwis programming is necessary and each car needs different programming...My car was ready in 5 minutes while madsex343 car was a hardday for me...End result is awesome in both cars and every electronic device works perfect in the car...

You will need to buy Steering wheel + airbag + electronic steering module.
Then you will need Piwis programming. thats all.
Cheers,
Emre

'08 is easier '07 is not that straight forward.
Some say '07 997 Turbo is not possible.
Can you give me the part numbers?
Can you guide me through the PIWIS programming during my installation?
Maybe we can Skype?

Also you can have SPORT light on the steering wheel when the sport mode is on

i 2nd that- i've a 07 TT tip with multi function CF triangle wheel- love to get paddles & could care less about keeping the multifunction or not.
would love to know what specifically i need to buy & what programming local dealer needs to do to ensure everything works. Suncoast/sunset say No can do. haven't seen specifics for an 07 TT USA car

I don't understand why there has been no feedback from an electrical engineer.
This should be easy.
What are the switches in the paddles doing? Are they Normally Open "NO" or "NC" Normally Closed?
What are switches in the Tip steering wheel doing? Compare the two and just change the microswitches in the paddles.
I had a 2004 AMG SL with sissy plastic buttons. Bought the 2006 paddles, found out that one of them was not the right switch for a 2004 car. I had to take it apart and take out the switch to replace it with the correct microswitch. Then mounted the 2006 paddles and was happy as a kid in a candy store holding a winning lottery ticket.
So, someone please get a multimeter and get a reading from Tip toggle switch for UPSHIFT and DOWNSHIFT and the same from the PDK wheel.
Once you have these simple readings you can adapt the PDK wheel and you will not need to change any control units or program anything. I just bought a PDK wheel and am not planing on doing any of it.
Attached is a picture of a microswitch. These are used in anything from $6 toys to $MM industrial assembly line robots.
Who can get a diagram of the logic in the two wheels?
If anyone is interested I can put together a Kickstarter project to convert any steering wheel to a paddle shift wheel. But I should probably start a new thread for that.
