Painted The Factory Faux Leather Console

About 6 weeks ago I decided it was time to let go of my 996 GT2 and go with something a little more "comfortable", shortly thereafter I found myself with a 2012 Turbo S. Right away I wanted to make a few personal touches (Flash, Springs, Wheels, Tint) as well as do a little renovating of some parts that were showing some wear and tear, namely the console.

As most of you probably have experienced, the fake leather coating on the factory console can, and will, peel or chip... and mine was doing exactly this. I tried something I had read about on a Ferrari forum about cleaning the fake coating off with Rubbing Alcohol which just leaves the bare plastic, but that wasn't working well, so a friend of mine offered to paint it for me and here are a few pictures of the results (please excuse the cell phone quality):

Disassembled with fresh paint

Partial assembly

In car but not fully installed

Finished product

Last shot - the complete package:

Initially I was stripping it with rubbing alcohol, but I assume my buddy striped it with a sander or some more aggressive solvent. I'll ask him and get back to this thread with the answer
