I, know what your thinking "really another Exhaust Thread". The answer is Yes I see here on 6SPOL allot of People use EP1 or EP2, Tubi, Fabspeed. The Question I have is what makes a Good Exhaust? I, know that Turbo cars don't like back pressure is there such thing as to much? I'm planning on getting Switzer VTG package with their New Exhaust.

Looks like just another single muffler design. Price becomes the issue and material. I think we get ripped off paying over $4k for such little piping. Even if the things are made out of ti.

Agree with you 100% Hence mine will stay stock. The worst thing about a lot of designs is the drone.

While they aren't a sponsor here any more, you should be able to give them a call. I'm pretty sure their 996TT and 997TT exhausts use a crossflow design.

Switzer hands down

Gotcha. I'm tending towards some of the new entrants who are offering exhausts in the $2k category for what certainly appears to be the same thing.

It's what's kept me from closing a deal to buy one. Call me cheap. Yes people say you get what you pay for but you don't always pay for what you get.
I've spent the money mainly on other things simply because I couldn't stomach 3K plus on one part, especially since so many people swear by so many different companies.

We offer a 2.5 quiet X-Flow and a 3.0 (full 3") X-Flow system for the 997.1TT and 997.2TT. We use an internal "X" in a single muffler to minimize drone and achieve a unique GT3 like sound. Our 2.5 version has no drone and sounds fantastic, yet screams like a GT3 at WOT - it's perfect for a daily driver, best of both worlds. We did a lot of testing to refine the sound of our X-Flow and have achieved what we feel to be the best sound we have ever heard for these cars. For those that want it louder and lightweight, we also make a straight X-Pipe with no muffling. All systems are available with or without catalytic converters (RACE VERSION) and can be optionally ceramic coated. Below are a few pictures and some video links...PM for details, if you wish to learn more...

What does the 997.2TT 2.5 Quiet sound like on start up and idle?

John@SpeedTech 02-24-2013 10:21 AM

It is just slightly louder than stock at all RPM's, including start-up and idle.

We just recently designed the muffler delete X-Pipe, as most people feel the muffler replacements (even our 3.0 loud muffler) are too quiet for an aftermarket exhaust and they are looking for a little more sound to wake the car up. The 997.2TT has a very quiet motor compared to the 997.1TT - on the 997.1TT we had to work to work more towards controlling volume and drone. On the 997.2TT, it's just the opposite, we are having to work to bring the sound out...

If you are looking for just slightly more than the OEM sound level, then the X-Flow mufflers are the way to go. If you are desiring more of an exotic sports car sound, then I feel the muffler delete would be more appropriate.

"Appears" being the key operative term here.
I will have to disagree with this remark. But will stop this discussion here. There has been just too much discussion on exhausts to have another one.

Now, re: speedtech, I have heard it on two cars here in Greece. At WOT, outside the car on a flyby, it is not for the faint of heart! It howls with a higher pitch, and not in a bad way. Twin pipe design sounds more aggressive than oem tips...
