None of the above --

1) DBS -- Sure it looks good but it dropped like a rock for a reason . An 09 car comes with no warranty and full list of potential repairs .

2) Bentley -- Other than quality materials and great looks it isn't great at anything else . There are cars that drive better , cost far less to maintain and own , and hold up better long term . In my opinion buying a Bentley is merely to proclaim wealth rather than to actually drive it .

3) 997.2PDK .. fantastic car .. but it's not a real 4 seater. Driving it with 4 people and scraping the front lip on an incline is not exactly a comfy ride . Often times one passenger finds the car amusing but sitting in the rear seat is far from a joy .

4) Panamera Turbo - When Porsche figures out how to tackle that controversial rear is the time to buy one . It's an otherwise fantastic car.

5) Gran Coupe -- Blech !! OK I realize the BMW commercial is amazing !! In my opinion the M5 and Gran Coupe places a lot of HP in a large car which weighs enough that it ought to be AWD .

My opinion vote goes to a Cayenne Turbo . Speced out with ventilated seats , two tone interior, panoramic roof , and some performance options .. it has total comfort for passengers , amazing ergonomics , is fast too, and a 2 ton SUV is a bargain (priced lower than a Panamera tt) even new . It's classy, elegant, practical, and overall a fun to drive vehicle. It's not bloated , ugly, or stuffy .
It's an amazing vehicle suited for 4 passengers.

Well today was fun.

DBS:
Cool car and the B&O sound system is pretty good. However, it really needs another 100hp to reach what I expected from it performance wise. If it had the extra 100hp it would be a truly awesome car.

M6 Gran Coupe:
Wasn't available to test drive, but what an interior! It's a cool car with loads of gadgets. The only problem is I still haven't been able to digest the price tag for a BMW.

Bentley GT:
The W12 Speed is fantastic! Not worth the huge price tag IMHO.

The Normal W12 (non speed) didn't have the same sound and wasn't as nippy off the line or at a good stomp of the pedal.

Porsche Panamera TTS, 997.2TT and possible Cayenne TT:
Will be explored in the next day or two.

I don't need 4 real seats. I just need room for a child seat and 1 passenger.

If that's the case then keep the 430 for pleasure and add a DD 2008-2010 M5. best of both worlds and the M5 is not very expensive if you target 25K to 40K miles

I am going to check if it possible to retrofit an aftermarket nav in this flip up location.

I am going to test drive the M6 Gran coupe tomorrow along with the DBS and new CGT (maybe even the speed ). It's going to be a fun day

So gadgets = Exciting. Good to know, would have been nice to know from the start.

See I think those of us here consider a car that handles well and has the power response of a 911 TT exciting. So we were a bit confused that you think heavier slower less nimble cars are more exciting.
The m6 probably does have the most gadgets but you should look at Audi and MB. They have gadgets and cool addons that will take the time that others would use performing, to learn how to use night vision etc.

Sorry... Gadgets don't = exciting.

By exciting I meant even after having a car for a couple years you look at it and still feel excited by it. This is a very personal thing and is just my point of view. I was ready to pounce on the 991tt but felt they could have done better with the aesthetics.

The F430 felt special and exciting years into driving it, with no gadgets. I don't think the M6 is capable of that. I just think that is a cool car, new on the market and who doesn't love gadgets (night vision...). It doesn't drive anywhere near as well as a 997tt but it is super luxurious and practical.

The 911tt is a VERY exciting car to drive! I just find in stock form it doesnt make me feel like a kid (aesthetically or audibly). If it was kitted (GT2 style...) and had a nice exhaust that changes things... But then it drastically changes the value aspect of the car.

Mercs, Audis (except the R8 V10) and BMWs don't do it for me. The M6 Gran Coupe just caught me and my eye and seemed a bit different.

What about the Rapide? The Panamera only looks good from the driver's seat.

After much thought and deliberation I have narrowed things down. The rapid is not a strong performer and I just don't really like the Panamera or Cayenne.

Option 1: 2013 M6 Gran Coupe to my spec with delivery in August

Option 2: 2009 997 GT2 and a value used SUV (X6 or something similar)

Option 3: 997.2 Turbo S with GT2 body kit and a value SUV

I love the drama in the GT2 but I wasn't considering it before because rwd on wet London roads made me think I would likely be losing traction a lot of the time. I also didnt know it could be had with a 4 seat configuration. Slightly conserned the ride might be too rough and manual around town would get annoying.

The M6 or 997 would be my daily driver with the SUV as the family car.

A few questions please:

- Does a tune on a GT2 bring it up to the Turbo S in performance? If so, what is the cost of a tune (likely softtronic as I want to keep a Porsche warranty) and a stronger clutch?

- Will a tune on the GT2 kill it as a daily driver? Does it just peel out non stop?

- Does a 2009 GT2 still have the Metzger Engine?

- How much does it cost to put the Gt2 kit on a 997.2tt (certainly replica wing and perhaps replica other parts if there is good figment)? Who makes the best replica parts?
If this is an affordable option this will likely be the route I will go. I like the 4wd and PDK for a DD. this combined fine the drama and excitement of the GT2 look would be sick!

Thanks for all the input and help.

Almost there!

I can't answer all your questions re: the GT2, but here's a few answers.

Does a tune on a GT2 bring it up to the Turbo S in performance? If so, what is the cost of a tune (likely softtronic as I want to keep a Porsche warranty) and a stronger clutch?
Clutch $4k USD installed, Tune $4k USD. Will surpass Turbo S performance by quite a bit (not off the line due to manual vs launch control PDK)

Will a tune on the GT2 kill it as a daily driver? Does it just peel out non stop?
Not at all - many of us DD Turbos/GT2s with much more HP than just a tune

Does a 2009 GT2 still have the Metzger Engine?
Yes

How much does it cost to put the Gt2 kit on a 997.2tt (certainly replica wing and perhaps replica other parts if there is good figment)? Who makes the best replica parts?

Not sure who makes the best, but prices are generally in the 20-30k range for a full GT2 body kit. OEM would be more.

Thanks for the feedback.

20k on a GT2 kit is too much, especially since here in the UK a 2009 GT2 (under 10k miles) with 2 years Porsche Warranty is the same price as a 2011 Turbo S.

The 3 main criteria to be considered are as follows:
1) Looks
2) Performance
3) Current Price on a Nice Used Low Mileage Car and Expected Depreciation in the next 2 to 3 years (Based in London England)

To help give some perspective I have previously driven (some pics attached):
- F430 Ferrari (Amazing and if I didn't need 4 seats the 458 would be the no brainer option). I don't like the California
- Bentley GT (modified with exhaust, tune, amazing morel hi-fi, wheels and bodykit)

I have narrowed it down to the following cars and could really use some advice:

DBS low mileage
- MSRP £165,000... An 09 with 15k miles can be had for £85k. My concern is that the DB9 has dropped like a stone and can be had now for £30k. Should it hold due to limited production or will it follow the suit of DB9?
- Not the Best Performer but it sure looks good
- Although an old model, I prefer its looks to the new Vanquish.

2011 Bentley GT
- MSRP £135,000... Can be had for £85k with about 7,000 miles
- Car has the best finishing imaginable and looks good. It has power also... It like the previous GT is a boat and weighs a million pounds... lol
- New Shape and looks and feels brand new
- Doesn't perform as well as I would like but it is just so comfortable and luxurious
- As I just stopped driving a GT, I would prefer something a bit different, unless this is by far the best option.
- A bit old man.... unless lowered on wheels

997.2 Turbo PDK
- MSRP Approx £120,000.... Can be had for £65k (2009 model) or £75k for a 2011 Turbo S
- Performs better than all others listed
- Doesn't stand out and isn't that exiting
- Old model

Panamera Turbo PDK
- MSRP £110,000... Can be had for £65k. Probably quite a bit further to drop.
- It performs better than the M6 Gran Coupe but has an ugly ***
- Nice interior, but 3rd to the Bentley and M6
- A Bit Old Man
- 4wd is a benefit in London where it always rains.

M6 Gran Coupe
- Although a brand new car, BMW UK offer 0% finance and a guaranteed buyback after two years which makes this car an attractive option.
- About £110k... £7k down and £1,100 a month for 36 months
- 2nd Best interior of the Bunch

Your advice and opinions are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Farris
Sounds like you got a lot of old man in you, or eat up with residual adolescent blues. Best stay with the older man's image. Maybe good idea to seriously check the M6...because do old men really need AWD

I am not sure what you mean "best stay with old man image".
The last cars I drove were an F430 with black wheels and a modified and kitted Bentley GT on 21s. I like cars that are fun to drive and sexy to look at.

I like awd so I can enjoy the performance of the car all year. Now that I mention it rwd wasn't a big problem in the F430, but when I tested the M5 the traction light would come on almost every time I pushed it hard.

I must say your comments are spot on!

I think the cayenne is just too big for me to really enjoy and I don't like sitting high off the ground.

I think 2 cars is the best option one sports car that can function as a DD and one value used SUV.

I am seriously leaning in the direction of a GT2 and a used X6 or Q7.

After much thought and analysis, I have realised no 4 seater (all I need is to fit a child seat) is going to give me the performance rush I truly crave, unless I go for a 997 Turbo S and do the GT2 body conversion. As this comes at a substantial (over 20k cost), I have decided to go a different route. Two cars

Option 1:
2013 640d Gran Coupe and a 997 GT2 with PCM3

Option 2:
If I can strike a deal with the dealer (unlikely but going to try):
2014 M6 Gran Coupe (saw it for the first time yesterday... Amazing looks)
2009 GT2 with PCM 3

Option 3:
2013 CLS63 AMG (test driving this week)
2009 GT2 with PCM3

Option 4:
A nice value 4 seater (2009 X6, 2009 Cayenne...)
2011 458 Italia

I was almost sure Option 4 was the way to go, however as I am about to have my first child and I don't drive to work, I was concerned that I will spend 95% of the time in the 4 seater, not making the 458 worth the financial outlay.

I think if I can do the deal on Option 2 I have the best of both worlds.

Thoughts guys?
