Anyone had both C6Z06 and 997tt? Comparison input wanted.
Hey I used to own a 790 whp 05 c6 and also had a bolt on 11 grand sport. Great cars mod well. Also had a 600 whp 996tt and just bought a 997tt. Ill tell you the power curve in a porsche is totally deceiving. The car doesn't feel anywhere near as fast as it is. You'll have to go out to race some thing to see for perspective. There's times I kinda miss the feel of the vette but don't think I would ever go back into a vette unless I could keep the 997tt. I've never drivin in a viper/modded viper but I'm sure it's comperable to the vette.
Iv owned both a highly modded C6Z and now a highly modded 997tt. Both are great cars. Would I sell my Z andbuy my 997tt again? Probably not. I just now got my EVT775 in order and running 100% and I love it but I loved my Z as well w FAR less hassle and FAR better support from the experts who built it. Maybe im just a bit disgruntled as my EVT775 997tt ownership experience hasnt been stellar but Im working to change that.

What about the ZR1? I was thinking to buy a ZR1 before I bought my 997 TT but I didn't do it because the C7 is coming out and I didn't wanna buy a car that will lose 50% value in 1 year...
I have a modified Viper and I just bought a 997.1 tt with the evt700 package. I sold a ferrari Scuderia to buy the porsche. The Porsche should be putting down close to 600hp at the wheels. I have to say that I have been really disappointed in the Porsche. This is my second turbo. Even with all the mods it just isn't very fast. My Viper puts down 588 to the wheels and the turbo just barely keeps up with it. I'm going to try a few mods to help reduce the turbo lag but if that doesn't work and make the car a lot more fun I am going to sell it and pick up a TT viper. Honestly the evt 700 package does not feel much faster than stock. If you are looking for real fun I would look elsewhere.
I had a similar disappointing experience when I test drove my first TT (I was also coming from a large 500+HP V8 with tons of low end torque), it felt sluggish. But with a tune and learning to drive it as intended I can honestly say that the 997.1 TT with a tune and exhaust is one of the fastest cars I've driven.
Coming from larger displacement NA engines you need to adapt your driving style to unleash all the power in the TT and enjoy the beast. Just make sure you keep the rpms in the 2500+ range and learn to down shift more often to keep the rpms above this range. A big V10 is forgiving in this regard, especially if you are lugging it at 1500 rpm, you can floor it and the power/torque is immediate. If you do the same in the TT it will feel relatively sluggish in this rpm range so you need to downshift and get those revs over 2500 (3200 if you don't have a tune!)
But if you keep the engine in the power band then the torque and power is amazing and should faster than your scud and as fast as your tuned viper IMO
Best Regards
Art
I guess maybe I was disappointed in the performance for the money aspect. The evt700 kit is 17k plus. I can build a stroker motor for my Viper and get 650 to the wheels na out of it for 10k. My friend just supercharged his Viper and got 700 to the wheels For 9k. I raced him in my 997 and lets just say the results were embarrassing. My car has 70k in upgrades, for half that you can tt a Viper and get 1000hp to the wheels. Would someone please explain to me why euro guys rate horse power at the engine and not the wheels. Does it make them feel like they are getting more? Evt700? No more like EVT580. Don't get me wrong, I like the car for what it is. It is much nicer than the Viper but if you are just looking at performance the bang for the buck this isn't it. I am looking to upgrade the intake; 2k for the upper hoses, 1500 for the lower ones 2k to install and 3k to tune. Expected result... less turbo lag. I almost fell of my chair laughing.

Prior C6 Z owner here. Bought it new and eventually built the motor, trans and rear diff and put a TVS blower on it. Made 722 whp. Sold it for another Porsche. Sounded good and was somewhat quick, but it was not even on the same level as a P-car from an overall perspective.
With regard to Vipers, I've found that TT Vipers are almost identical in acceleration to Porsches at the same HP level.

No only Evoms but a lot of other power kits out there are overpriced. I think is always better to get your own hard parts and a good tune.
When you do that, you risk buying, then selling, then buying, then selling, over and over again until you find a combination that works. Cost savings can be hit and miss depending on what combination you end with.
Some really good conversation going here. On a car forum it's really refreshing to see an adult conversation rather than a 'my car is better than your car' sh*tshow.
The last time I took the Z out I was enjoying it on the freeway. The thing just pulls...pulls, pulls.....3rd gear, 4th gear, even 5th. Truly a great experience...mashing the throttle...hearing the snarling exhaust and feeling the car hurtling you forward and not wanting to stop. I don't want to lose that.
I've had turbo cars before and the experience just wasn't the same. It's more of a climax that builds- as opposed to an instant burst of gratification as with the 7.0L V8. To be fair with my old turbo cars I wasn't talking 500whp.
But from reading the threads here for some time, I have a hard time believing I can achieve 500awhp easily with a tune and an exhaust on a 997t.
Can a tuner chime in here with some factual data? I'm not going to be happy with a car slower than my Z that costs 2x as much.

I love the 997TT but I think the Z06 is faster and the power is always there.... (I'm talking about stock cars) I'm sure my 997 TT is faster than my Z06 but my vette was 100% stock.
