***Help with Battery / Generator Warning Light ***

Hi folks,

Looking for help / ideas here:

Have a 2008 911 Turbo Cab, with an extended non-Porsche warranty.
A few months ago, the electrical system shut completely down while the car was running.
Alternator and battery were replaced.
Car runs completely fine, alternator seems to be working.
But car now has "Warning: Battery / Generator" light always on.
Car spent three weeks with my local independent Porsche specialist mechanic, and he couldn't figure it out.
No symptoms, but light persists.
Obviously, the light is bothersome, and I'd like to get it taken care of.

Anybody have suggestions as far as potential causes, how to evaluate, and how to approach the dealer to get it taken care of with the least amount of wasted money?

Thanks in advance!

It could simply be an idiot light that needs to be reset via the Porsche Proprietary gizmo that the dealer has. I had a similar experience with my M3. I had an ABS fault light caused my a bad sensor. Had the sensor replaced and the light stayed on, tech told me it will reset in a few miles of driving. It never did and I went back to BMW and they used a reset "tool" to clear the light.

Have you read out the error messages if any with a Durametric or PIWIS? That is always the first place to start. This could get you valuable information for your determination of what the issue is. Obviously, something is sending info to the system to turn on the light. Find out what that is by reading it out....

Clear all the fault codes, and see what happens...and when....

Good luck.

Get the same message when going through the dread car wash. You should check your belts.
