Noisy BOV's
Hello guys
Need a little bit of help, could you post any clips of noisy BOV's if possible because I bought the AP ones and didn't notice any difference, and I really like the sound of them to their maximum expression if you know what I mean. I will greatly appreciate it...... |
Just FYI....These cars do not have blow off valves (BOV). They have recirculation / diverter valves. Nothing is released outside of the closed system into the atmosphere, so you will not get that big sound without changing that whole system. 996 TT have BOVs.....We do not.
You may slightly hear them opening, but won't be much, or very loud. DC |

yup. only way. Fabspeed's CAI gives a bit off blow off woosh but that's the most i heard on a tuned engine. Also CAI's are not recommended and the stock air box is the best.

You need different turbos.
My car has noisy BOV's. Was fun in the beginning but now I hate it http://instagram.com/p/dymwxGQAaO/ |

I will greatly appreciate it...... I did tell you this in another thread that they would not make any extra noise and you are wasting your money. If you really have to have the noise go for these. http://www.turbosmartusa.com/product...l-port-shortie |
Turbosmart states these are 50/50, atmosphere to recirculating. I didn't think that was possible on 997tt's?

Porsche 911 Turbo (997) - Requires two valves Porsche 911 GT2 (997) - Requires two valves |
996 and 997 both use diverter valves... german cars dont use blow off valves....
OP, i know what sound youre looking for... you would hear it better if you had a stock exhaust and an air intake. youre probably revving the car hard and getting off the gas to try and hear it right ? try this.. drive in 2nd gear at 1500-2000 rpm.. give the car a bit of gas then let off after immediately... you'll hear the "woosh" sound.. you want to put a lot of load on the motor and have the turbos build pressure and then let off the gas immediately.. if you have an intake , or an aftermarket air filter, you will hear it more. |
