Your best 0-60 time on manual gearbox?

I wonder if anyone could get claimed 3.7s on manual gearbox from 0 to 60?

We all know the tip/PDK are quicker 0-60 cars. I've only tried to launch my 6 speed a couple of times and it tended to bog down. Overcoming that requires either abuse of the clutch or a totally balls out launch which I'm reluctant to do. Also, even with my sports shifter I have to admit it's not the quickest shifting car I've owned. Who gives a dam though, it a strong running car and I've tried to leave my stop light drag days behind me anyway. If I were to ever really wring out the car I would do it in a rolling start format.
I'm curious too if other 6 speed owners have much experience with seriously launching their cars? It certainly feels like a mid 3 second car given it's unbelievable torque.

Well, this is not another auto vs stick thread. I'd love to know what is realistic time that fellow members get out of their cars on manual gearbox.

3.2 sec for my manual car. 996 turbo with HTA 3076.

I will try again soon because I installed 997 GT2rs gears and wavetrack diff.

I had a 3.4 to 60mph and a 7.3 to 100mph when my car had an exhaust and remap.

I do better than my friends turbo (has autobox) to 100 or more with my turbo 6-speed, but requires power shifting, that is, no release of gas (only use clutch) at 1st and 2nd shifts. This most likely is tough on the clutch, especially at 1-2 shifts , so rarely use power shifting for 1-2s. but a bit more often for 2-3 shifts to dust RWD 650HP Shelbys and Z06 vettes that do well above 60m/h, but no challenge 0-60.

I did 3.7 first attempt ever. Tune/Exhaust. Car bogged at 4,000 RPM launch.

Did you have the PSM shut off?

PSM was on. Sport mode on, 4000 RPM launch. I expect I could do a low 3 second 0-60 if I launched at 5500 RPM. I just wanted to see how much power the car was making. Car ran 11.6@125 mph first attempt. It did 3.7 0-60 on that run. I was happy with that and didn't try again.

Owning another low 9 second drag car makes it much easier to launch this car without guilt. That's the biggest concern, breaking it :)

i've done 2.7 0-60 in my 996tt on 27.5" rear drag radial in one gear with no shifts at the track. ive done a 3.1 on it on the street with my 18" radials. i havent tried the 997 yet with the vbox.

I'm no expect on the PSM system, but doesn't it shut off or moderate the traction control? Wouldn't that allow for some wheel spin and less bogging on launch? I'd love to try a balls out launch, but I hate to abuse the equipment, particularly if it requires something like a 4000-5000 RPM launch.

I am no expert on what the PSM does either other than hearing "don't ever turn it off"... haha. I bet it would help stop the car from falling on it's face out of the hole at lower revs but my concern would be what does it do at 130 mph while you're still at full throttle and have turned it off?

A 4000 RPM launch is not going to break anything. If it did, Porsche would have done a very poor job at designing its drive train.

holy hell you guys have some good 0-60 times.

997TurboTom 03-29-2018 02:01 PM

joining the club with a vbox recorded 3.14 seconds, on 19" stock size Bridgestore RE-71R tires, about 580awhp. 4000rpm or so launch, some spin at the start. ~100ms shift time according to vbox chart of acceleration drop off to resumption, NOT power shifted, I lifted off the gas

Saint Ari 04-05-2018 12:09 AM

3.4 on stock 19's, exhaust and tune. a horrid 2.2 60" that came with quite a bit of wheelspin :D :D :D
