Quote: That's very interesting on the Cup2. I was starting to lean Cup2 for the longer life and less noise, but sounds like R888 is the way to go for me as I'm more interested in straight line. I am also not on the stock wheels, HRE P40SC in GT2 sizing as well.
Don't get me wrong, it's a really good all around tire, but once the power starts going up, you will need something better.

R888's do howl. Cup 2 tires are definitely a higher tech tire as you can tell from all the super cars using them as OEM.

R888's are a blunt grip instrument but with decent sidewall stiffness and still nice on the road course.

Totally agree the r888 is a fantastic straight line tire. I've done some insane launches in really bad conditions with them, particularly at places like dusty airstrips. At the track they scream so they provide ample feedback. But there are lots of faster track tires out there. But for an aggressive daily tire with occasional track use, there isn't much that can compete. They even do really well in the rain, surprisingly.

I have a couple used sets for the stock wheel if anyone is interested. I got wider rims so they are just sitting.

R888s are cheap for a reason. For HPDE there is no comparison to the CUP 2s or NT-01s. Grip is nice for 5-7 heat cycles only then they become bricks. IMO

AutoX? You seriously judging the capabilities of the R888 with something no one does with the r888? Tires are designed for an intended purpose. AutoX wasn't one of them.

Not referring to auto x but track events. Regardless the tire is a competition tire that should do well in any event.

R888's are an absolute bargain and the go-to tire for 1,000+ HP street exotics. They are also a terrific dual purpose street/track and track rain tire.

If you are trying to use them so something else then they just aren't for you. There are plenty of other tires out there. Move on.

^For the money yes I agree. My point is the reference in the thread regarding Cup 2 being inferior for track purposes is not correct.

Yeah this I agree with. I've tracked both. Cup 2's are better all around. R888's do have more grip overall though.

Quote: I see what you mean about the narrow tucked in look. I'm not sure the 245 and 325 will help too much in this regard. You need to get an alloy wheel with more aggressive offset. Nice looking car
Thank you
