335/30R18 fit on a 997.1 Turbo?

If so, what's the optimal offset of 12" rim to buy?

I also would like to know ...

TurboRexed 09-27-2014 08:00 PM

On my 997.1 turbo track setup I run Toyo R888 335/30R18's in the rear on 18x12 +48 offset rims. They sit perfectly flush on the car with oem camber settings, because of the additional tyre width I do not run more camber on the rear than oem for my track/autocross setup. "Get Your Wheels" on this forum was extremely helpful and recommended the +48 offset after discussions with me, I could not be happier with the fitment look.

My car is not lowered, due to our public road conditions and speed control bumps in the suburbs.

Thank-you sir!

Great info. I need a better tire in the rear as well and this seems like a good idea.

DNugget991GT3 09-28-2014 10:20 AM

yes, you can. but remember....
youre effectively shortening your gears by going to a slightly smaller tire (a 335/30 is 26"
what are you going to put up front ?

what brand of tire are you going with ?

TurboRexed 09-28-2014 11:41 AM

I am using 265/35R18's on 18x9 +50 offset rims on the front. They slightly protrude the wheel arches with oem camber settings, but with more camber upfront they also sit flush.

This setup has less difference in diameter between front and rear than the oem setup, up till now I have had no diff problems.

Subscribing. Thinking of getting a set of 18's this winter

Steve_TT 09-29-2014 11:32 PM

Fwiw, on track I run r888 with 255/35/18 in the front and 335/30/18 rear. The rims are 9.0 @ +50mm & 12.0 @ +48mm. I'm lowered with -1 camber in front and -2 camber rear. The front is flush and the rear is 5mm inset (in case I run a wider 335).

Hoping you guys can answer this. I have 20" HREs and want to do the Michelin Cup tires.... I run Michilin PSS's right now at 325/25/20. Cups don't come in that size. I would have to go 335/25/20. Will that fit?

DNugget991GT3 12-03-2014 12:09 PM

Pace, the tire will fit, yes. but you MAY need a small spacer, depending on offsets.

335/25/20, isnt this the factory zr1 size ? if so, make sure its not a runflat.

PACE 12-03-2014 12:13 PM

No spacers. What is the issue with run flats?

DNugget991GT3 12-03-2014 01:05 PM

they handle like poop (compared to non runflats). WAY too stiff. it'll be easy to bend a rim.

edit, looks like you might have to do a 315/25 michelin cup instead (N rated too !!!), as the 335s only come in runflat. 3/10ths of an inch narrower (but because youre running a 12, it will look just the same visually)

Anyone run 996gt2 wheels on their 997tt. How's the fitment? Tire sizes?
