TheRock's GT3 "Smile" Grill Install DIY Guide
OK Folks,
At the request of some 6Speeders and others I was able to put together another document / DIY to help those looking to add/replace the GT3 "Smile" Grill. This illustrates the process on a 997 TT and 987 Boxster S, but would apply similarly to many other models. As always, I hope you find it helpful. If you have a better way to do it...Knock yourself out. I created this DIY and put in the time in the spirit of helping my fellow enthusiasts. Good luck to you all. It is a pretty straightforward process, and I hope I documented, illustrated, and outlined it in a way that is easy to follow and logical! Certainly, if you see opportunities to help others, or tips please post here for others. As in the past, I host these on my personal web server, so if it gets a lot of traffic, it may flake out....so just try again until it works. TheRocks GT3 SMILE GRILL DIY Enjoy, and let me know if it helps.... DC |

is the vent at all functional? I know when I did the gt3 bumper conversion on my c2s the gt3 specific center rad ductwork guided the exit air into the vent.
does the turbo vent the air downward? a quick way to tell if its functional is if after a drive if the vent feels hot then its letting hot air escape. my guess is that that the air vents downward although the vent offers a good release. if its just for looks no issue with that, just curious. I would say yes, to some extent. Primarily for looks and I did not try to fashion the additional duct work etc...However, the Turbos do have a center radiator right below the vent. so you are getting airflow up and over and venting when hot..so it "kind of" works. Hope that helps..See an illustration / partial cut-away I did in Photoshop...of how I "think" it may help? DC https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...281515bc74.jpg |
