Yeah, I just realized that when I started taking it off. I was planning on bench bleeding since the ram hoses were short. :-/

I successfully repaired my hydraulic wing. Did lots of bench bleeds and several hours of leak test under pressure (ram extended) Name: image-4288171381.jpg

If this fails again, will definitely upgrade to the electric rennkit.

I appreciate that! I wish you good luck.
Catastrophic failure #2 led me to the path of designing the eRam kit. The hydraulic design and the single ram microswitch idea was a loser from the aftermarket design board. In fact, it's not a Porsche design. They do not hold patent to it...

I just had the dealership program my wing to stay in the up position all the time. Tired of dealing with the leaking lines. No more pushing the button for the up position.

That's even worse as there is pressure pushing the fluid which will eventually compromise the seals of the pump and/ram. The wing will go down eventually when this happens. Unless what you meant of program was remove all hydraulics and inserted a kick stand in the Rams

Makes sense . After looking at the entire unit, there are too many failure points that can arise. I think my fix is a band aid to prolong a bit more but the poor design still exists.

Not in my case. There was no light.
It is going down again on the same side. In my case, topping up the fluid keeps it working for the summer.

The Pentosin evaporates, especially at underhood temps. It will often be a sticky film under the cowl that the motor unit mounts to, or cause the rubber seal gasket at the end of the lid to swell and pull away, or will have dripped through the holes in the caps ono the horizontal member where the motor mounts are.

Yes, and that stuff is nasty. I honestly don't know why people wait for it to fail to replace them. (I get the cost, as it is not fun to spend money when it doesn't make you faster), but when that stuff comes out, it eats paint and is not fun to clean up.

Maybe Dave can put on a "Replace before they fail" sale.

I love my E-Rams.

Timely thread for me. I'm considering a solution which puts the wing permanently in the up position. There seems to be a couple of products available. One product on ebay appears to be a simple hardware insert into the cylinders, and the other is from ebwerks which is a cylinder replacement which allows the wing to be set at several heights. There is also the electrical replacement solution, but the price is substantially higher than the two fixed solutions.

Yes spoiler error comes on since the wing doesn't raise as high and switch is triggered.

Will go away once full motion is in play

Unfortunately, the only model with limit switches on both sides is the Carrera GT. I'm working on an all electric eRam solution for this model now. It also has a fluid reservoir tank, which the 6 and 7 turbos do not have. Still the owner is done with the hydraulics... 😀
