coolant problem and coolant in oil

You don't have to be a Porsche specialist to identify "combustion" engine failure signs. I, V or H configurations will have common functions

Oil in Coolany creamy on top cap 997 Turbo gen 1
Hi everyone
i just visited the Porsche centre today after a last week incident with low ATF oil and they said they found milki or oily substance in the coolant box and cap. They said they will sent the heat exchanger for pressure testing and revert if this is the problem or if it the head gasket. I am not sure its either. I have asked them if I was to bleed the entire coolant and replace it and tested it before they remove staff just for testing and they said no. Any ideas?

One remote possibility is the heat exchanger on the top of the engine. It is a box shaped device that has coolant and oil flowing through it. When I dropped my engine last year on my 997.1 tt we noticed that it was leaking coolant. It is possible for oil and coolant to mix there and is about the only place that can happen short of a head gasket. Hard to check without dropping or having one of those cameras on a flexible stick.

If it was a problem with a heat exchanger you would not have white smoke coming from your exhaust

The mechanic said he found brownish creamy staff in the coolant box. He said he will pressure test the heat exchange to see if its cracked. I have recommended he first flashes the coolant and let the car work so we can clearly observe if oil is liking into the coolant. The engine oil is fine no milki staff. The mechanic said first check the heat exchange and then flash so we dont do this procedure twice. I am not sure which is the best/economic way to move forward.

Have your mechanic do a block check it’s the quickest test to check if you have a bad head gasket. It tests for exhaust gas in the coolant system.
Its a pump tool that using blue fluid if it changes to green/yellow you are getting exhaust in the coolant.
And I don’t really see how he is going to pressure test the heat exchangers you can’t really get to them
