997.1 TT finished installing AMS Alpha 9 kit

Its been an anxious few weeks waiting to have all of this installed. Everything is now in the car and awaiting judgement day on the dyno.

Car is a 2007 Techart, tiptronic with the full Alpha 9 kit and the new Tial 3076 Xona rotor turbos. Also has 1000cc injectors, 82mm IPD plenum and throttle body. Car will hit the dyno with fvd headers and catless Techart exhaust as I await the inconel headers and titanium exhaust ordered from Unobtainum welding.

Car will be getting tuned in Toronto, more than likely on an AWD Dyno jet. Still trying to button that down, hopefully we are on there soon.

Been scouring the internet for similar set ups, been able to find few manual cars but not many tiptronic ones. Would be curious to see what similar tiptronic cars can sustain safely. If you have any insight in that would be great to hear from you.

Prodigymd thanks for putting up with my 1000 questions over the last few months and helping me source all of this.

Also very curious to see in the next month or so what power difference if any the inconel headers and titanium exhaust will make vs the fvd/catless techart that it will hit first the dyno with.

Favourite part of this entire kit has to be those intercoolers, what a shame to put the bumper over those.

The full Alpha kit was installed by KTM Motorworks in Toronto. Cant say enough about Kosta the owner. Meticulous mechanic, had to wait a while till he finished some big turbo builds on a pair of 335 BMW's that converted to a single larger turbo, putting down some surprisingly big numbers that I still cannot believe. Keep joking around with him that he should have became a surgeon not a mechanic. Did a slew of things while motor was out in terms of maintenance and preventive measures. Serviced tranny seals in addition since we had it out. Cant say enough about his level of expertise and thoroughness.

Did you modify the transmission at all? Need to be careful running a lot of power through the tiptronic! Probably need to have it built and a tranny cooler installed!

Tranny wasn't modified, just replaced a sweaty seal.
I've heard that same about the tranny, that its only a matter of time till it grenades, however I have also heard they can handle 700rwhp. Guess time will tell. Apparently they have the same tranny as the Benz 55 cars, have an SL55 with 550rwhp and 650tq and its held up fine for last five years, mind you this will be putting down more power. Curious what kind of power people are putting through these with piece of mind.

The tuning is being arranged with Magnus in Toronto, hopefully some time next week.
Car needs to go back on hoist in few weeks for when the new exhaust shows up, at that point KTM Motorworks said will install a custom tranny cooler to aid in some longevity of of the tranny, if at all possible. Dont want to send a perfectly good low mileage tranny out till I absolutely have to.

I don't see the logic in attempting to grenade the tranny before building it. It will then cost you replacement + build after the fact.

I am not going to try to grenade it, I am going to try to get by with it, car is a daily driver wont be getting raced much. Will spend the next 5-6m with winter rims and tires. If/when it starts slipping or showing signs of failure will deal with it at that point. Have the same tranny or variation of in a 550whp and 650wtq SL55 for almost 5 years now with no issues, and that car takes a good beating everytime I drive it.

He was on my short list of options, however he isn't tuning cars right now apparently based on the brief email exchanges I have had with him.

Thumbs up

I have been told to stay under 650 foot-pounds of torque! There are several shops that can rebuild these to handle 1000+ foot pounds! I would just pull it and have it done now that winter is coming. Save yourself a headache later on!

I hear what you are saying but not looking to push the car to its absolute limits and then pull back a hair to try averting disaster. The car is a daily driver, I don't commute to work or anything but when I can drive it I absolutely do. Not looking to squeeze maximum hp/tq out of the kit. Car isn't going to see much racing on the track other than one 1/4 mile pass that will more than likely be well in the 10s at which point will be kicked off the track for not having a cage etc.

Looking to have the car tuned to 550-600tq and then wherever the hp falls from there 650-700. As for winter coming, I actually prefer driving the car in the winter. There's some sick gratifying feeling about seeing this thing all dirty with slush and in the elements. Car sits low so unless it's snow plowing it will be out there as much as possible. I obviously have other cars better suited for the winter however I like to drive it as much as possible as it's a joy to drive. I'm hoping to stay out of mechanics shop for a while and enjoy the alpha 9 kit year around albeit at 80-90 percent of what it's capable of. I can live with that. Perhaps I'm being naive in thinking the tranny can handle 675hp/600 tq, I don't know. Guess time will tell, which is why I'm anxious to hear from other tip guys who have put some power through them.

Tranny coming out of the car at this point is out of the question, basically waiting for phone call to load car onto flatbed and bring it to Magnus.

I'm sure making the power listed above will be more than enough to embarrass 99.9% percent of the cars I may come across on the road.

You should be fine at that power level! It's the torque that is hard on them not so much HP. I would just keep the fluid fresh and add a tranny cooler! I thought you were putting down more power!
