997.1 TT center diff issue

997.1 TT center diff issue
Am about to pull the trigger on a 07TT with 55K miles on it. Very clean otherwise, but I took her to two different PPIs (I know, OCD)
The first said the center diff was blown. He put it on a lift and tried to spin the rear wheels, and front wheels didn't rotate with it. and said the car needed a new viscous coupler (7K parts + labor).
The second PPI said everything looked fine. I asked him about that specifically and he said its fine.
Who is right? What should I do? Any other signs and symptoms or tests that I can do? Thanks guys.

Just another reason why selling cars private party sucks. You could get some chucklehead doing the PPI and scaring your buyers off. (As mentioned on Rennlist, 997TTs don't have even a viscous coupler.)

good thing this car doesn't have a viscous coupling that was 996
on 997 PTM module locks the front drive when the car is running.

It would throw a code. This car uses a computer controlled clutch pack. If the wheels dont spin the way the ECU is mandating...then you get a fault code.
Multiple-plate clutch with magnetic control
Unlike other makers’ all-wheel drive systems with viscous couplings, PTM relies on the instant
response of an electronically controlled, electro-magnetic multiplate clutch pack to distribute
engine torque to the front and rear wheels as conditions demand.
Magnets operate a master clutch with three discs. The discs are connected to one another by a
mechanical reinforcement element, which actuates the main clutch. The main clutch is comprised
of eight sets of friction discs. Given that the Turbo Coupe's front tires lose traction on a dry road
at about 221 lb.-ft. (300 Nm) of torque, the clutch's capacity of 295 lb.-ft. (400 Nm) is more than
sufficient.
The multiple-plate clutch runs in an oil bath integrated in the housing of the front-axle differential,
and features its own oil circuit, complete with a separate circulation pump. The special automatic
transmission fluid used has a recommended service interval of 56,000 miles (90,000 km).
