..that won't break the bank.

I currently have Agency Power straight pipes. It's no cats, no resonators, nothing. Just 3" pipe from the turbo exhaust outlet to the back of the car. It's loud. That's an understatement. Indescribable is more like it. Very aggressive, and I love it. It seems like a love/hate relationship. You either love my exhaust sound, or hate it, no real in between with extreme feelings at one end of the spectrum or the other. Seems to be 50/50 among my peers as well. I've talked to people who get a smile from ear to ear when my car starts up, people say they can hear me from a mile away, etc. Then there's the people who (usually behind my back to other people) say it sounds like **** Whatever. That's not why I am looking at changing for something new.

I have no issues with my setup, but I live in Germany where running a catless setup is highly frowned upon by locals and Polizei alike (it's highly illegal here). Also there is a 95dB exhaust limit here, and anything over is illegal and could see heavy fines and won't pass the annual inspection. I am seriously contemplating running something different to avoid any potential hassle in the future with Polizei or when I have to do my next inspection. So that said, it would have to be less than 95dB.

What's the best sounding, most aggressive exhaust out there that won't break the bank, but is still relatively quiet. My neighbors also hate me, and I think I am pissing them off. I've literally had Germans yell at me in German (can only imagine what they are saying) when I start my car, and I'm not even trying to be loud.

I feel our 2.5 "quiet" would fit your sound goals perfectly - PM for pricing, if interested.

Another vouch for Kline from Sam. Idle, partial throttle, normal driving sounds like how the 911 Turbo should have came from the factory, but step on it and it screams.

Europipe

Try the stage 2 Europipe. 100 cell cats for max flow and some of the most beautiful welds you've ever seen. It is also a one piece unit that will stay straight forever and won't throw any codes. Super quality, good sound with no drone but sounds great when you get on it. It's not cheap and weighs about the same as the factory unit. Check them out. You won't be disappointed.

I have a tubi street that I'm not using anymore as I wanted a big loud catless system. It was only run for 8000 km (yes I'm in Canada) or so before removal. And it is very much what you describe. Can be quiet under normal driving but under aggressive boost it is louder.

If you interested I have it listed for sale right now.

Sort of goes like the "which tune should I get" threads - with so many good options it's pretty hard to get a real consensus online.

But here's a compilation video that may help:

I always take those videos with a grain of salt. Usually they're recorded with the crappy cellphone mic. Videos with mix and matched sound clips are not a true comparison, but gives you an idea of how they may differ in sound.

But likewise, people saying "XXX exhaust sounds great!" has to be taken lightly because one man's exotic throaty growl is another's annoyingly loud fart can.
