Struts / Strut Washers

Took my 997.2 TT in for service and I was advised that the strut washers have disintegrated and need to be replaced. I'm OK with having the washer replaced, but I was a bit surprised by the cost of this repair, $999.64. That is labor and the washer, existing strut to be reused. I have replaced struts on my cars before, and although it was a bit labor intensive, it was straightforward. Am I missing something? If it is labor intensive and requires special tools maybe I should have the shop do the repair. And if they are going to have everything apart would it make sense to have new struts installed at the same time? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Bumping this thread.

Just found out that my rear strut washers/spring rests (997 333 523 03) are disintegrating also. Drivers rear almost ripped off and passenger side crumbling.
I also found the 2 "PDK/engine bushing stops" (9A1 375 255 00) really dont know what they're called, also disintegrating. They just surround a bushing in front of the PDK unit.
My front bump stops are also on their way out.

Planning to DIY all. OP or others any thoughts, experiences?

For reference, 997.2 turbo cabriolet.
