How we looking on adding Draggy to the equipment list? Hoping it works out. Have a hard time paying $500 for a unit that hasn’t been updated in over ten years although I understand it works really well.

Earlier you asked about buying the vBox Sport. The verification software used by this site supports the vBox Sport and all other RaceLogic products. I'd get the Sport because it has a higher sampling rate than the PBox. Higher sampling rate == greater accuracy.

I know his engine builder: Stewart Van Dyne. Great pictures of Stewart working on Mark's Indy-500 winning car. Stewart built the motor for that car. Small world, I was at that same Indy-500 race as a young 12 year-old. RIP Mark!

So far its looking good, I'm liking my draggy so far. 60-130 are basically identical so are trap speeds. Dragy ET on 1/4 mile is quicker by .1 than my VBox, however my VBox was slower by .1 ET than actual track times.... that leads me to believe that Dragy is actually slightly more accurate there. We don't accept VBox for 1/4 mile list anyway so that really doesn't matter. Half dozen of my friends got Dragys as well. Draggy doesn't have an option to export a file to submit so if you do get one your username there will have to match up to one here. One last thing I want to try is test 2 or 3 Dragys in the same car, during the same pass to see how consistent they are and that will basically conclude the testing :D

Dragy looks real good. The fact it has a 10 Hz GPS is essential to accuracy. Higher is better, but most vBox guys use the 10 Hz model as well.

Regarding 1/4 mile times. Unclear whether or not Dragy follows NHRA rules or not. I know vboxtools.com does. ;) 0.1 seconds difference is only one sample @ 10 Hz. There's more than one explanation for how that happens. 1) That difference depends on where you are collecting samples when you punch the gas. I'll bet if you put three Dragy's in the same car and run a 1/4 mile, you'll get three different results. Same would happen with a vbox as well. 2) Might also depend on whether or not you're in continuous data collection mode, or starting based on acceleration.

When comparing to drag slips, it also depends on where you staged the car. vboxtools.com uses a strict 1-ft rollout (also does 0-ft rollout). If you staged at the drag strip closer or father to the line, or if the strip doesn't have a 1-ft rollout, then the results would differ vs vboxtools.com. vboxtools.com does the same thing every time, but the drag strip doesn't. For that consistency, to be honest, I'd think vboxtools.com is better. Then if you add to the mix how many drag strips have misaligned lights (e.g. Sacramento)...I would again go for technology and consistency over humans.

Just my $0.02

On another related note: Dragy has been gaining popularity across the car enthusiast community. It's price point and ease of use make it a lot more accessible for people that do not want to spend 500$ on PBox but still want to play. However my concern with "other" devices has always been accuracy. So far everything I have seen has been promising and Dragy sent me a unit to test side by side with VBox and I have done some tests with good results already. I will continue playing with it for another few weeks and decide whether I will accept it for the list.

Here's something I found troubling about the Dragy results. Notice the distance calculation differs from vboxtools.com. Dragy is about 1-ft difference calculation. Distance is calculated via integral calculus from velocity. I just spent the last two hours with this and couldn't figure out how to get 556.23 ft. I tried lowering the resolution of the kph to mph conversion. I tried lowering the resolution of the ft/sec resolution. I tried adding fewer significant digits of rounding precision. I tried increasing and lowering the resolution of "slicing" each sample (vboxtools.com uses 30000 slices per sample). I tried ignoring the 'slice" altogether. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the same answer of 556.23 ft. Closest I could get by dumbing down vboxtools.com was 556.97 ft. The one thing I do know, is that vboxtools.com matches RaceLogic software precisely. I'm at a loss to explain what Dragy does here. But whatever Dragy does, it will affect 1/4 mile results because that's based on distance calculations.

Ryan from AIM Performance submitted their results from Indiana Shift S3ctor this weekend. They took the old legendary Spoolbus to 200+ MPH mark on the 1/2 Mile claiming the Manual Porsche 1/2 mile vbox verified record. 204.6 made it the fastest Porsche at the event and won the 6 speed competition.

Also in the running was Dave's (9SECDD) brand new AIM/ES1000 build 991TT-S that ran a strong VBox verified 196MPH 1/2 Mile and a handful of mid 3sec 60-130s. VBOX verified 3.6 60-130 and 100-150.

Notable mention both cars ran 9.7x @ 163.x 1/4 mile times on asphalt with no prep.

Mark @ AIM Performance 08-20-2018 02:21 PM

Cicio from TopSpeed sent in their results from Indiana Shift S3ctor, they got the red 991 TT-S making over 1200WHP and it is flying. TopSpeed set the new 991 half mile world record at 201.97MPH this weekend, solid improvement from 192MPH at the first event they ran the car at in Colorado.

Congratulations Jeff and Cicio !

Huge news this morning for the Porsche world if you haven't seen it on social media yet. 6SpeedOnline member Dave 9SECDD was the first Porsche to run 8s in the USA! He also has the world record for the quickest ET 991 in the 1/4 Mile. Congratulations to Dave, Emre @ ESMotor, Joe and Ryan @ AIM on this awesome achievement.
