Sport Chrono Pkg= 44 lbs more Torque!
For those of you contemplating options, make sure you get sports chrono package because it gives you .2 more boost and 44 extra ft/lbs torque. Non sports chrono= 457lbs torque and sports chrono= 501lbs. torque. Oh, I just read this info in one of the Porsche Mags... either GT Purely Porsche or something else.. can't remember.

Are you sure you weren't just reading about the variable geometry turbos that can output the peak torque of just over 500ft-lbs. for up to 10 seconds? I don't see why the sport chrono would add more horsepower or why that option wouldn't be in with the X50 package.

Hey Drsharp don't make me change your name to Dr******. You ought to pick up the magazine and read for yourself before you come to any conclusions. I did not say more hp, they only mentioned an increase in torque via .2 extra boost and this is easily accomplished through the remapping associated with sports chrono. Maybe the quicker throttle response, common in the sports chrono pkg allows the turbo to spool up an extra .2 bar.
05997S, this had nothing to do with VTG. VTG allows a broader power band instead of an instant surge of power like the current turbo.

bpanos,
HP = (Tq X engine RPM) / 5252
Therefore, based on what you're saying, peak torque will have to be delivered much sooner in the powerband. I find this somewhat hard to believe, but it could be true. It would help if you could give some more details rather than "this is what I read in a magazine, it must be true".

I agree with the Dr. here....the Evo article a few threads down clearly mentions that the extra grunt is delivered for ten seconds (max boost) using the variable turbo technology thing.

....ignorant geeks like you guys should be driving hondas
05997S, where the f am I confusing ecu with VTG??? Never once did i relate the two. Wake up dude!!!
...and by the way Porsche does not give away sports chrono, it is an option and will probably be pricey too

I referred to an ECU map here is your response.
My post didn't mention VTG so it was obviously pulled from your ***. Just in case you don't actually know the difference between a mechanical component and software.....
