997 Turbo Values Tanked?
#16
Time to update my spreadsheet. here's what I have from 2 sample points, I took out 1-2 data outliers. ASking prices on cargurus nationwide
2007-2008
20-40k miles
January 2017
manual avg - $76,500 with 31k avg miles
auto avg - $71,500 with 29k avg miles
August 2018
manual avg - $83,800 with 34k avg miles
automa avg - $71,000 with 34k avg miles
difference between autos and manuals grew

A couple thoughts...
I agree that the manual transmission is a huge value issue and these cars with low miles, right color, excellent condition, and sensible mods if any...are holding value and even going up. Also, if a person appropriately addresses the coolant fitting issue (welding BBI fittings and add Sharkwerks kit) and has both cam sleeves "pinned"...you will add even more value to any buyers who do their research.

I don't ever see myself "upgrading" to a 991 as I just love the 6spd driving experience.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see $85-$100k 997tt 6spd prices as a norm.
Look at how high gated Ferraris have gone, and those cars suck!

The involment a 6 speed manual Turbo (996/997) gives a spirited driver it's very intoxicating.
Best if accentuaded by conservative mods (Exhaust, ECU upgrade, Short Shifter).
Some wheel spacers and those beautiful Fabspeed quad-tips for looks don't hurt none either.
Yes, prices on 996T/997T with 6 speed trannys will continue to rise. Bullet proof cars all around.

people buy these cars in the spring so they can enjoy during the summer. less buyers in fall/winter. also most companies pay their commissions/bonuses at YE, so buyers have more money to put to work at that time of year vs now

This has me thinking.......................
If I found a high mile, well serviced tip coupe.......on the CHEAP
I'd daily it all day long while lovingly embracing the patina that comes from years and years and years of high miles.
I think I'll begin my hunt... In January.

I'm seeing a couple nice examples on autotrader with mid 50's ASK
If there is one to be had for low 40's I'm there.
A little accident history and paint work.... NO PROBLEM

not to go far off topic, but I'd rather have the 2014 AMG wagon as a daily
