Just the opinion of a random guy on the internet, but I think the Turbo S is going to face some downward pressure from the 991 Turbo as those depreciate. On the TTS, you're already giving up the Mezger heritage for the same 9A1 engine, plus the driving engagement from the 6-speed, and the 991 is frankly just a better car in every way. The 6-speed .1 and .2 Turbos have a very strong value proposition thanks to that transmission, since the prime allure of the 997 is its vintage throwback vibe.
In a similar vein, a TTS is way more car than a 993TT, but which one's worth more?
Speaking only for myself, but as another example, if someone gave me $85k to buy a 911 and it had to be a PDK, I'd probably just spend a few more bucks for the 991 Turbo.

i'm considering a 2012 TTS cabriolet with 25k for miles
clean carfax and can probably get deal done at 84k
i figure i can buy drive it next 3-4 years put 20k more miles on it and still sale it for 60-65k in 4 years?

I hope to God the 997.2 TTS prices don't go down as far as 60-65K in 4 years! Not unless it has 70-80K miles on it!!
I look for the TTS's to hold in the high 70's - mid 80's for bottom.

996 going up?
Noticed the 996 turbo going up in value? But the 997 turbo still dropping? If the 991 turbo drops and pushes the 997 Turbo prices down, why does the 996 go up? What’s the logic?

Also, as new 911 turbo prices continue to increase steadily over the years, won’t it take them longer to depreciate to what say a 997turbo can be purchased for right now? Even if they keep their same rate of depreciation won’t it take longer for them to reach the prices of current 10 year old cars, since the 10 year old cars started at a much lower original price? A 10 year old 997 TT (just for even numbers sake) is a $70,000 car, where as a 991 will probably be $85,000 when it’s 10 years old because of a much higher start price? Wouldn’t this slow the values from dropping so much on each generations predacessor?

997.2 will be way under 60k in 4 years. 991.1tt will be $70-80K by then. There was a 997.2tt that just sold for $65K on ebay last week, decent car with 60K miles.

Yeah, I'd again argue that the manual transmission is what's really going to make these desirable cars that hold value in the future.
Bold opinion warning: in 10 years, the TTS won't be seen as much more special than a .1 Tip with a tune and PCCBs.
