09 997TT with 58k puffs blue smoke on start up

Depends on your backstory. Is this happening only when the car sits for a while between startups? If so, sounds like a normal deal. I have heard of different oil weights affecting this, what oil are you using?
The "normal" start up puff is blue and lasts for about 3 seconds. Posts I have read mention that the stopping position of the pistons are what allow this, which is why it can seem random. If it is longer than that, you could have other issues.
If it is lasting longer than that, I have read posts about the AOS (air oil separator) being faulty. There are procedures to check this involving checking the crankcase vacuum and I have read if it is really bad you will have misfires.

How "blue" is it, exactly? I've had blue-cast white smoke on occasion, but it's always after running the car spiritedly and shutting it down without letting it idle for a few seconds. It's a common thing, and generally "fixed" by letting the car run for 10-20 seconds before you turn it off.
