997.1 turbo convertible DIY maintenance and exhaust build

Thanks for the update, glad the fine was reduced. the connection is a common issue. the hoses are not that expensive, Some guys hit the flat edge with a file if it's starting to round off.
My VTG link fell of twice on the right side just ordered a new one.

Finally found some time to work on the car today. Here are the new resonators and I got them welded in. I’m still waiting for some time this week to put it back on the car and weld in the tips.

What a detailed description of the work you are doing. Great photos and a lot of hard work. I would like to hear the reduction in sound post the resonator's install. I am running straight pipes and boy is it loud. Fortunately, in my part of the world (India), there is enough ambient noise for anyone to notice the loud exhaust noise. Irrespective I do want to install resonator's too. Will wait for your results.

So I finally had a chance to weld in and align the tips. Still some work to do but almost done. I should have it all buttoned up today with a video of the in-car sound. I’ll do it hopefully this afternoon with the roof down.
I also took a look to see how that oil build up is doing since I have driven the car around for a while now. Not a drip and no build up for now. I’ll keep and eye out over time.
Im hoping to get some H&R springs and spacers next then get a tune.
here is a video idling.

A few more pictures. I added some polished stainless tips which finish it off quite well. Still some drone between 2000-3000 rpm but it sounds great from 3-6k. Haven’t had a chance to get more videos yet.
This was just a picture of my car that I liked and wanted to share. Basalt Black is a great color when it is clean!
Next step will be to add some Helmholtz resonators to address the remaining drone.

here is a short sound clip. Exhaust sounds great. My gas mileage really sucks now because I love hearing the car above 3000 rpm! Lol. Trying to find a safe place to get a proper sound clip but on this abandoned road I got to about 7 psi and about 109db

sound is great! Had no issues. Exhaust still going strong. Hoping to add anti-drone tubes before I get the car on the road this season.
i did find a small coolant leak from one of the fittings that I am also going to address. I’ll document the work here.

Did you do any calcs on the length of the resonators? http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/exhaust_drone.htm

When I did the sound analysis on my C2S, it was peaking at 129hz. 376/129/4 = 0.728 m resonator tubes.
When I try this on my turbo Im going to make the tubes adjustable in length and try to dial it in that way.

hey Challenger997 - thanks for sharing your project. I'm thinking of doing something similar with my drone tubes. I would recommend that you put some bracing in for the tubes as they are long and will put on more stress on the welds as you drive the car and the tubes bounce. Please add a sound clip if possible.
