Steering wheel compatibility question

I have a 997.1 Turbo with tip and would like to upgrade the steering wheel to paddles instead of current buttons. I'm seeing people upgrading to a 991 steering wheel but would a PDK sport steering wheel from say a Panamara work? I don't have a multifunction wheel so would I still need modules or anything else or lucky enough it could be plug and play?

Appreciate any info.

You'll need the 997.2 module to get the paddles working, the adapter from https://gpsadapter.us/ if you want multi function, and an airbag that fits the wheel. Once installed you'll need to get Porsche to code it for you. The link above has details.

The Panamera wheel will work, I've got a Macan wheel in mine, looks great.

Thanks NZSKATER for the info. Your steering wheel looks great. Looking forward to this upgrade :)

Here's the guide I followed. https://www.planet-9.com/reviews/Cay...heel-swap.html

Thanks, this will come very handy! So it looks like I will only need the module, airbag and programming since I don't have multi function? Would you happen to know if my current airbag will fit since both steering wheels seem to have the round bags?

If you've got a 997 Sport wheel now, then no, it won't fit as it is a different diameter and I'd expect has different mount points etc. take a photo of the old and new wheels if you'd like us to confirm.

If the wheel you're installing has multi function you can add the adapter and code it in to enable it if you want.

The first pic is like what I currently have. The second pic is of one from a Panamara that is identical to one being sold by someone local that I may purchase. Just wanted to make sure it would work.

I think they're different size airbags but don't quote me on that. The outer circle on your current one looks slightly wider than the Panamera version.

They are not the same. The grey plastic around yours is part of the air bag.

Thanks all!

Just competed my swap to a Macan wheel paddles removed.

Need some modules now to get the controls working.

Wow. Let us know if the new module will make the new steering function work

Seems very well documented that folks have been able to get this working following the GPS Adapter instructions, another member has a 2 part video that inspired me to do the swap.
Just waiting on the parts to arrive now. Seems like the coding can be done with the Foxwell, Durametric or PWIS2. I have the Durametric seems I have to send a ECU reset to take the changes.I was able to turn off the DTR and turn off all the warning chimes feature after a reset.

Thanks, the leather is not as glossy as the rest of the interior but not super noticeable.
