Tag Light LED’s

Hi all.

I replaced the license tag lights with Sylvania LED’s on my other two vehicles (Caddy, Ford). I like the true white bulbs VS the yellow hue.

I want to replace them on my TTS since everything else is LED on the rear of the car, but I know Porsche’s electrical system can be finicky. Has anyone switched to these LED’s or similar without issue? Would I need any add-ons (resistors, etc) to make it work trouble-free?

thanks!

I did not use Sylvania LEDs, but I did use another brand of LED from deAuto Key for the plate lights w/o problem. No resistors needed.

I see that Suncoast sells a tag light LED kit that replaces the whole light fixture and it $70+.

Just wondering why it’s sold like that vs just buying new generic LED bulbs from the local auto store. Is it because the LED bulbs have become commonplace and quite cheap compared to when this LED kit was first introduced?

They are a completely different part and I think are sealed. I can't recall if the bulbs are replaceable in the incandescent versions - mine are in storage - good question and if so, would be easy to test a cheap LED bulb.

I tried an inexpensiove set that replaced the entire housing and so far no issues and much brighter. I just installed them before putting the car in storage. Will see how long they last.

I put in LED bulbs a few years ago, they're still working fine.

I've tried several types of LED's before but ended up switching back as I found them to be too bright. It would light up the ground too much. Anyone have any suggestions on which LED's that isn't too bright?

Update: I got some Sylvania 6418 Zevo 6k LED and is perfect, white light but not too bright.

Supra.z06...Got them off Amazon. Inexpensive enough to try out.
