Kinda dissapointing trap speed, shows that AWD get's up and goes i guess!

ztnedman1 Apr 27, 2006 03:35 PM

Yea. Id like to see the 0-60ft times. They must be really low. 11.4 at 120 means off the line the car takes off because of the awd. On the street the 997 tt is going to be very close the the new z06. I think the z06 is going to be nudging out the TT's though. Rangers 127 mph is coming from the best of the best of the z06 drivers, most are getting low 120's.

Cant wait for the track comparisions. These cars are going to be VERY evenly matched in almost every aspect.

Very Nice! (if it's true)

Ford GT and F430 watch out!

BUT...you have to remember this car is AWD, which probably takes away at least 2-3 mph in trap speed, more like 4-5 i bet. And secondly, this car weights with the tip i think at about 3600. Not to mention that a full trim, and VRAlex can back me up, I hope (i saw in one of his videos), of the 996TT (full trim) was about 3900 lbs. So I bet a full trim tip will weigh in at around there. Plus even if its not, stock weight is still at least 3500-3600, which is very heavy. That weight will also take away from top end. Also, how many other cars besides super cars does an 11.4 in the 1/4? I could be wrong but I dont think any if any at all. Thats faster than the SLR McClaren. Almost CGT and enzo territory. It is still amazing that Porsche can take a car that weighs 3500+ lbs with 477 hp and 457 lb/ft of tw and run low 11's with it. Just shows that they really know how to put the power to the ground, as usual. Simply f'ing amazing if you ask me.

Hey no i totally agree, it is amazing. I guess i just judged from the low trap speed, amazing off the line traction due to the AWD (obviously) which is extremely efficient BTW, but would it have the same character and power to act like that low 11 sec or 0-60 mph car from a highway pull, that was my only questionable thing?!?!

empunker Apr 27, 2006 07:01 PM

WOW this is really fast!! :D

Very true as well. I think that the 997TT will be able to pull very hard from a roll. One thing is, is that of my knowledge of 996TTs, they pull hard from almost anywhere. I think that the 997TT will be able to do the same but more for a few reasons. New advances in technology, VGT, virtually no turbo lag, and a new all wheel drive system. In addition, if you look at the hp and tq charts, full 457 lb/ft of torque is available from 1950 rpm through the whole rev range not to mention overboost (505 lb/ft) and the whole 477 hp is available throughout the whole rev range as well from 2200 (i think). This is going to be extemely advantageous to the 997tt from a roll because we all know Porsches put hp to the ground better than anyone. I mean look at this. F430's run about an 11.7 in the quarter mile, stock. This car is about 3200 lbs (i found a weight of 3197 online) and has 490 hp and 343 lb/ft of tq. The 997TT weighs 3500+ and has 477 hp and 457 lb/ft and is fast than the F430 by .3 sec. Again I say, simply f'ing amazing.
