heh ok ........... totally not trying to discredit the 997TT lol ...... just giving credit where it's due: if you want to go round a racing circuit VERY quickly, the Z06 is a fine car indeed.

[quote=crosvs]Wow. That is a tremendously overweight car. Whatever happened to Porsches being light, nimble little sports cars?!
Note that the 997 TT has 15% more hp, 21% more torque (Sport Chrono) and is LIGHTER than the 996 TT. The new GT3 has 9% more hp, 5% more torque and WEIGHS MORE than its predecessor...... Bill |

the 997TT advocates should love the fact that the C06 is faster..it will simply force porsche and other manufacturers to up the ante. It's good for everyone.

RHD Owners pay atleast $175k w/o options, can you imagine the following optional parts aren't standard for them ? - Homelink - Cruise Control - Electronic logbook ? - Porsche Vehicle Tracking System ? - Rear Wiper (No Charge) |

the ET and 0-60 are amazing, but I think we can all agree that some of that is due to the awd system. Trap speeds of 121 don't even match the SRT-10, never mind a C6 Z06.
I would like to see more tests done for this car. But, if the car traps 120-122 consistently, it will not be a match for a C6 Z06 given that both cars get full traction, in other words, from a roll. jmo |

The trap speeds, yes, but the E/Ts will be affected because of traction. The AWD allows for the 997TT to cut a lower 60ft time (typically) while the Z06 really can't. Now, put some drag radials on the Z06 and watch a few run high 10s. It has the trap speed for it. Has this been done yet? I know that we have a few low 11s runs with DRs. People keep saying "Enzo" and "Carrera GT" territory. Not exactly. Just because they run around the same E/T in the 1/4 mile, that doesn't mean that they are in the same category. 11.4 @ 121mph vs 11.4 @ 133mph is a HUGE world of difference. Both the Enzo and Carrera GT cannot come out of the hole like the 997TT. If they could hook up, they are easily 10 second cars. RWD with that much horsepower on street tires can cause massive wheel spin. Trap speed really shows the horsepower (for the most part) while your E/T is more of a function in relation to traction on the launch. |

bottom line... ITS AMERICAN...

Guys this Z06 envy is getting olde....the 997TT is it's own monster.
Just chip the damn things if they are slower than the Chevy. |
3rd gear in the z06 is supposed to be insane. Thats where the high mph trap speeds are coming from.
If we go by stats so far, it looks like the z06 nudges the 997tt in straight line, and by nurgburgring times the 997tt nudges the z06 around a track. Cars are VERY CLOSE performance wise. Bottom line 997TT > Z06 |
