What do you guys think of the new HRE 591R vs my old wheels
The more spokes the better in this case.
with that said, I think the 540 Rs look best from the HRE line-up
now with that said, i'd never put on HREs on the 911. here's why and i'm quoting someone who makes a living knowing the wheel industry:
"HRE, iForged, etc don't make their own wheels - others do and they finish machine them, paint them, and smack their label on them. It provides no means of quality control.
The presses required to do this are so big and expensive (5-8000 TONS of pressure and 4 stories tall) that as you can imagine, only a few people have the ability to have them. Only BBS, OZ, and Volk (Rays Engineering) have their own equipment like this. Everyone else is either using inferior, much smaller presses or are buying wheel blanks and finish machining them.
There's where knowing the business comes in. 90% of companies claiming to be making their own wheels, aren't....."
Unlike BBS/OZ and even Fikse, HRE has 0 motorsport history. 911 and porsche obviously hail from its accomplishments in racing. rolling a vaunted car series like the 911 on shiny wheels with zero accomplishments in motorsport is a huge no-no for me.
not to spoil your parade here... they do look purty and vibrate in the rain. that's HRE engineering for ya.
just trying to keep it real here - no offense intended
now a set of black OZ IIIs would look insanely proper on your car just like Ruf did on their RT-12s

So yes they do manufacutre their own wheels, market them and sell them to the general public! Now granted they aren't sponsoring race cars but they do have their presence in the aftermarket automotive industry and have proven themselves as far as fitment, style, color options, custom lip sizes, etc! Just go look at the Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and Porsche's they have done!

Clarify how they "manufacture" their own wheels. BBS/OZ manufacture their wheels. They own the presses. They own the R&D behind their barrel/center designs.
Where do you think iForged/HRE gets their barrels? Do they design and maintain qc on these? What about the centers designs? Just curious.

I do know for a fact, however, that both companies design and cut and manufacture their own center's! They also have engineers working with them for specs such as offsets, back spacing, lip sizes, brake clearance, etc ..
I can see your argument and i belive its a valid one, however, its alot like buildling a custom home! Alot of the work on your custom home is subcontracted, the builder isn't doing all the electrical, pluming, floors, etc! Hey may only do the framing, but hey at the end of the day he's the guy pulling everything together and giving you the finished product.
Bottom line OZ, BBS = Mass produced Forged Wheels (they make a select number of styles, and keep them stock at a warehouse)
HRE, DPE, iForged, Forgeline,Maya, Asanti = Custom Forged (you call them up, you tell them what you want, they build it)
you get to pick and choose what you want to do, within reason of course!
