F430 eaten alive by 997 Turbo

yes, the deed was done.
glad to report, that i was able to crush the F430. Actually it was annihilated....

going from a roll at thirty, i would pull away and then he would catch up, slightly lead and by 200 we were side by side again.

starting from fifty, we would exchange leads. he would pull ahead by half a car lenght and when his F1 shifts I would lead. again and again still arriving at 200 together.

from standstill we both bog off and then when i had built up boost, he would be in the correct rpm range and again side by side.....

now for the best part.....

standing side by side with we torque braking, i would push the brakes and get rpm up to 2500-3000 revs i flew away so fast, that within 2 seconds i was 50 meters away.

absolutely amazing what the turbo is capable of when launched this way.

we did not try his launch control mode. the f1 clutch is on good for 4-5 of these launches.

unfortunately, we did not have a third person with us to film these pulls. in three days another carnut friend is joining us and we will have the videos to post.

i would not have thought that i would be able to crush him THAT bad.....

the 997 Turbo Tiptronic is unbeatable when launched in that manner......amazing.....

I am not trying to start something, but....am I missing something in your story or what  You gave two senarios where you state that the 430 was side by side all the way to 200 km from rolling starts. I would have thought that a 997 tt would have been ahead by a least 4- 6 lenghts and growing but it was not. It was only when you did a standing start w/ an auto 997tt were you able to take a 430. What would happen if you had a 6 speed? Well from my perspective the 430 did amazing and it was not a kill. The 430 is a great car and it has a lot going for it...but staying even with a 997tt from a roll just makes me apprieciate the car even more.

Yeah I don't see how you were able to "annihilate" the 430 when it was "dead even to 200km" in 2 of the 3 scenarios. And from the dig the 430 didn't even use launch mode, so that would be apples to oranges in that comparison.

With the fact that this isn't the type of fight that would exhibit the strength of the F430, the car that much MORE impressive. Kind of like putting Sugar Ray in the ring against a PRIDE fighter like Rampage Jackson... and Sugar Ray submitting him.

...in any case, let's see some VIDEOS!

I was just thinking the same thing. Even to 200 in 2 or 3, and in the third you only tried to launch the 997 and not the 430.

I'd say they were even and nothing was really proven either way:)

Kind of dissapointed when I read that,it is clear you didn't crush the 430 and indeed this is the first report I have read where the 430 matches the turbo.

M-Funf Jun 16, 2007 08:56 AM

sounds like fun though

I can annihilate a...

a ford focus in my RS!

Seriously though, the first thing I would concider "annihilation" in my turbo would be an e46m3 or the likes...thats just not even close to fair though...

Benjamin Choi Jun 16, 2007 09:42 AM

I still like the F430 way better

Paris_CarreraS Jun 16, 2007 09:44 AM

Have to agree. You didn't "crush" anything.
